liveinabin
Help! I've eked every last drop of fun from Fallout 3 (225 hours logged) and I need something to occupy my mind until New Vegas. I love everything about Fallout 3 - it's my perfect game - from the free exploration and true role playing (as opposed to JRPG stat juggling) to the awesome VATS system. So, I've played through Mass Effects 1 & 2 which scratched the itch a bit. Tried Dragon Age (but hate the fantasy setting - where 'magic' is used as an excuse for anything). What next? Is there anything I've missed in the sci-fi-ish RPG genre (on 360 or PS3). Do I just have to sit very still and wait till the end of October or, god forbid, do some work?!? Help. MagitekAngel
Played the KOTOR games yet? Figured I'd ask.
liveinabin
Yeah, 'fraid so. Great games both. Pity the next one is an MMO and therefore ruined.
MagitekAngel
Also go back and try the Elder Scrolls games? Oblivion in partiular shares a similar interface to Fallout 3. Also look into Borderlands, a little more shooter than RPG but some similar concepts to Fallout 3 there.
Video
Oblivion is a similar game, though knightty and such If you haven't played it. It's not as pretty, but Morrowind. If you don't mind PC, there's the Fallout Trillogy you could pick up. Or, you could play though Fallout again, remember, it can play differently depending on if you were a model citizen, or a real bastard
Ite
Try Red Dead Redemption or Borderlands.
ianoid
Try Red Dead Redemption or Borderlands. Neither will engage you as deeply as FO3, but thats perfect, innit? I dig both of those games.

liveinabin
OOH! Brilliant! Thanks Oh, as for killing time until that happy day - I've been doing some DLC: Mass Effect 2 (what little I can adequately download without feeling ripped off) and, after that, I might get Operation Anchorage for Fallout 3 - the only bit of Fallout DLC I've resisted till now. Is it any good? After all this I should really finish Bayonetta.
ianoid
Halo: Reach will be a fine distraction until October 19. End of October has my big three coming out: Fable III, New Vegas, and Rockband 3. I've warned my wife that she may not see me much.
liveinabin
Heh. I suck so badly at straight FPS games. I remember playing through Halo 2 and getting my ass kicked at every turn.
S1500
I noticed Matthew Perry(of Friends fame)is a voice actor in this. Think I know the reason why. There was some story many months ago he got carpal tunnel from playing Fallout 3 so much. Pretty cool you love a game so much you get to be a part of it on the sequel. moycon
One week to go... looking forward to this game! Wow that close!! *giggles giddily* Pre-ordered the Collectors edition weeks and weeks ago, kind of lost track of time. I'll hopefully have the day of launch. King_Salamon
Pre-ordered my Collectors Edition a while back as well... I am definitely getting it on launch day... perhaps I will buy it wherever I find it first... lol. But it must be Collector's Edition! Can't wait to check out the new locales.... I even listed a bunch of stuff in the Marketplace to raise Fallout New Vegas funds!
liveinabin
I didn't bother with the Collectors edition (it's £70 in UK - do the conversion on that for a shock) but I'm busy getting all my real world tasks done before 22nd, it'll be too late after that God, I hope it doesn't suck. IronMongeR
Preordered the collectors edition so I'm hoping it could be here by Tues or Weds next week! If this is anything like FO3, I won't be getting out much for the next few months!
liveinabin
I've just passed 250 hours play time on my Fallout 3 save. I think it's time to dress him in his best suit and find him a comfy chair in his home in Megaton. That's an overdue retirement
Ryanw
250 hours!? I felt like playing again today and I only had 45 hours in. The only DLC I've tried yet is Operation Anchorage, so maybe the others will add in the 200+ hour difference?
liveinabin
Anchorage is the only one I didn't try (as it adds little to the game). Broken Steel is the one you need first. It removes the 'end' of the game, replaces it with a proper big fight, raises the level cap and populates the world with some new enemies. Best piece of DLC ever. My 250 hours are made up of lots 2-3 hour blocks patrolling the world and picking fights with bad guys. It's quite fun to just fire up the console and be an absolute bad-ass for an hour or two every so often:) That said, there are so many little details and plot points in the Fallout world that, with the DLC installed, it'd be easy to enjoy a good 150+ hours without being as aimless as I am. S1500
I actually went for the deluxe edition pre-order. I wanted that lunchbox from F3 so badly. heh. I'm one wiring fix + isotoner glove(if I can find it) away from my Pip-Boy Mk2 prop halloween costume.
liveinabin
I use that lunch box every day, and the bobblehead sits right by the TV. By comparison, the new game collectors edition seems a bit lacklustre. I have no need for poker chips, a comic or a deck of cards.
S1500
Anyone get a text message from Gamestop saying it would be available on Monday at midnight(so thus, Tuesday)? I doubt gamestop's going to have a midnight opening.
liveinabin
Hmmm. It seems that Vegas DLC is going to be exclusive to 360 for a while. I've preordered the PS3 version , partly as I had Fallout 3 on PS3 but mainly because I think the 360s fan noise might get distracting. Mind, the PS3 version of Fallout 3 is a total crashfest. Is the 360 version any better? I'm wondering if it might well be as the PS3 game was essentially a 360 port.

You are a braver man than me ordering New Vegas for the PS3 if you also have a 360....
