godslabrat
Setup: Mac Mini, 1.82 GHz C2D, 2.5 GB RAM, OSX 10.4.11 PS2 controller on a PS->USB Converter Nestopia v1.41 Emulator Enhancer v2.4.0 Okay, for something that should be really simple, for some reason I can't get this to work. I copied the Emulator Enhancer folder into my /Library/Application Support folder just like the instructions said. I verified that the Emulator Enhancer.bundle file is in said folder. Yet, when I start up Nestopia, it doesn't recognize the presence of EE or my controller. I don't see EE in "About Nestopia", nor do I get a menu to configure the controller. Help, please? Kthnx. HuckleCat
When you go to Nestopia/About Nestopia, does it say "with emulator enhancer" or give any indication that the enhancer is installed? Also keep in mind that for the newest EE you have to have OSX 10.4 or newer installed. If so, I'm not sure what to tell you. Make sure to plug in the pad before starting Nestopia. I'll look for other NES emus as well. I think it sucks that alot of Mac emu authors want to get paid for what most PC emu authors do for free. It's also sort of crappy for this Bannister guy to rip features out of emulators that other people made, just so he can try and make money through his "emulator enhancer". (All for the cause of buying camera film to waste like a tweener girl and then go on roller coasters.)

Herbarius
Have you checked in Mac's equivalent of the control panel if your gamepad is recognized by your system at all?
godslabrat
Have you checked in Mac's equivalent of the control panel if your gamepad is recognized by your system at all? I haven't found anything in System Preferences that would allow me to do that. For the moment, I think the bigger issue is that NEStopia doesn't recognize EE at all. As a confounded variable, I just realized that the $1 adaptor I'm using is intended to connect my controller to a PS3, not a PC/Mac. You'd think USB would be the great equalizer, but there's no guarantee with something like this. I think it sucks that alot of Mac emu authors want to get paid for what most PC emu authors do for free. It's also sort of crappy for this Bannister guy to rip features out of emulators that other people made Well, apparently I'm not the only one to have this problem. I don't have a problem compensating someone for porting something to the Mac... God knows we need more of that... but right now, I have zero motivation to pay for Nestopia or EE. HuckleCat
I just tried it out on my wifes Macbook Pro and had no problems installing the enhancer. Make sure you're doing that right first - if it's not telling you in the "about" section of Nestopia that the enhancer is there, it's not setup right. Until that's setup correctly there's no telling if there actually is an issue with the pad.

I'm already using 10.4, that's not an issue...
HuckleCat
Yeah, your OS should not be an issue. I was just parroting what's on that guys website about the newer EE release. (My wifes Mac is running 10.5.7 though.) I guess check his site for any info or mac forums with others having the same issue.
goldenegg
OSX 10.4.11 There's your problem. This is straight from Richard's website. Note that the current releases of these projects all require Mac OS X 10.5 or later. There's an archive of older releases which may work on 10.4, but they're not supported. http://www.mac-emu.net/~bannister/filemirror/ EDIT: Looking at Richard's site, it appears 10.4 support was dropped as of the Emulator Enhancer 2.3.2 release. So try a release prior to that from the archive. Emulator Enhancer has been updated to v2.3.2. The main change in this release is an updated eSellerate library, which fixes some minor issues experienced by my registered users. However, the new build also adds support for more than eight saved game folders, a change which will be required by the next update of BSNES, which will hopefully be released in the next week or so. Please note that this update is no longer compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 and earlier; blame Apple for that one!

I spent so much time making sure that the software worked with 10.4 (separately) that I never checked that part. Thank you so much!

godslabrat
After a bit of tweaking (downgraded EE to the previous release). The setup works! Fantastic results! Thank you all!
