Christophero Sly
I'm not sure what to do here. I've haven't picked up Dragon Age yet. I've been meaning to pick up a used copy for some time, which I suspect I can do for ~$20. However, I'm wondering if all the extra content in the upcoming ultimate edition justifies its $60 price. It looks like you'll get Origins, Awakening, and 9 DLC packs. Will I get the best part of the DA experience by just getting a used copy of Origins, and if I like that, maybe Awakening too, or are there some compelling reasons to have the DLC packs as well? Is the ultimate edition a great value for what you're getting?

I just consider the Ultimate Edition the finished game. The stuff before that was just beta that everyone paid to play early. But then I tend to feel just about everything this gen is just "beta-ware".
MagitekAngel
Now now, children, what have we all learned here? Never, ever buy a game within the first year of its launch. Edited October 4, 2010 by MagitekAngel

cimerians
LOL...I agree. Everything is beta or in parts until you get the complete game as a "gold", "Ultimate" edition.
Video
I thought about it, but does it come with the content, or just a code to download it? Cause, er...I'll play the "beta" instead of buying the gimped "full" version if that is the case. (since one of my friends has it, I can get the beta free )
+remowilliams
Definitely worth it. Some of the DLC is good, some is crap, but for all of it and DAO:A as well it's a good deal. I've already paid too much and played through it all.
Vic George 2K3
I want to get DA:O first and see how that game is.
SoulBlazer
I've heard great things about Dragon Age. A collection that has BOTH games and the DLC's? I'll defentily need to pick this up!
Christophero Sly
Thanks for the input, everyone. It sounds like holding out for the UE is the way to go on this one.
Vic George 2K3
I got DA:O and so far it's interesting. I'm playing as a male dwarf noble and I can't wait to meet the other characters I will come across, particularly Oghren the womanizing drunk. I'm also getting DA:O Awakening. Video
Ugg... I heard "downloadable" a few to many times there, feck that.
Vic George 2K3
Okay, now I've run into a brick wall with some tough boss battles in both DA:O and DA:OA, where my characters get killed off. I've seen PC playthroughs where the player is able to pause in-action in order to set up which character will perform which attack against a selected enemy, but I'm not sure how I'm able to do that using the Xbox 360 versions of the games, IF I'm able to do that at all. Note that I'm playing both games using Casual.

Vic George 2K3
In DA:O, it's Kolgrim, and I want to refuse defiling the urn. In DA:OA, it's the Dark Theurge in Deep Ruins.
Vic George 2K3
Okay, I figured out you can use the LT button to pause in-action in order to set up a move with a character.

cimerians
i havent played dragon age yet, heard it was good might rent it from blockbuster Take your time with it. Even though you have limited time with the rental. Enjoy the game and check online for help. (or here) I love it. This game and the Oblivion series (Fallout too) has stolen life from me. Christophero Sly
Does the DLC on the Ultimate edition require some sort of online activation before you can use it?
cimerians
Does the DLC on the Ultimate edition require some sort of online activation before you can use it? No it should just install right off the CD. They do recommend you create an online account but it should not be necessary. The online account is like Oblivion where it tracks your achievments and progress etc online.

Just to throw this out there, you can probably get the Ultimate edition new (or "new") from Gamestop at this point for 20 bucks. I picked up a copy on the PS3 yesterday for thus. I have both the PC and console versions and I can play offline without a problem.
