JamesD
I wanted a fast USB memory stick for my 4GB 360 slim so I bought an OCZ 16GB Rally2 USB Flash Drive. Bzzzzzzzzzzztttt.... wrong! The 360 driver doesn't like it and says if fails the reliability (or whatever) test. Funny, works fine on my PC and is faster than the one Microsoft sells. It was $25 at Newegg with free shipping btw... but stay away for now because it doesn't work. I made a post on the xbox.com forum but of coarse the post hasn't been approved and a later one I made got approved almost immediately. +moycon
I personally use an 8GB Data Traveler in my 360's. Works fine http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000TXEE14?ie=UTF8&tag=atariage&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000TXEE14 There are a few resources for finding a compatible USB device for the 360. Here is a good one to help avoid disappointment in the future.... http://www.xbox-linux.org/wiki/Xbox_USB_Compatibility_List
Video
I second Data Travelers. Their good drives and pretty fast/cheap. Remember, just because it fails it's recommendation test (or whatever) doesn't mean it won't work. I got a card from walmart because I was on the spot and they only had one, so I got a Sandisk Cruzer (8GB) just so I could transfer my user name to other systems, and eh, it gave me it's failure thing saying it was to slow, but I used it anyways, it seems to work. I still keep the saves on the system itself, but it works for me as a portable profile at least. Supposedly if the card is to slow, it can cause problems, so i'll probably look for a faster card in the future, but I only have my profile saved on it so I can haul it to friends houses and play coop on a game or something. Mostly I don't like the Cruzer because it's a slider, I"d rather have the data traveler, it's just a cap, or a swivel type like the PNY sticks, but I don't have a free one of those...I may dump them on my computer and see how they work. That's the problem... the OCZ is supposed to be really fast and it seems to be on my PC. It won't let me use it... unless there is a way to set it up from a PC. Video
Weird, after I let the 360 format my card, my computer sees it, but won't access it. Are you sure the xbox actually formatted the card? You just go to your main blade, go to system settings and select the card in memory and tell the system to set it up.
madmax2069
Weird, after I let the 360 format my card, my computer sees it, but won't access it. Are you sure the xbox actually formatted the card? You just go to your main blade, go to system settings and select the card in memory and tell the system to set it up. You can tell the 360 during the setup of the USB on how much of the space it used for the 360 (aka partitioning). the PC will not read a 360 formatted usb drive unless you get the program that will allow you to (if it even will), but the program is for modding non MS larger HDD's to be installed on the 360, it can read the data on a 360 HDD, no clue if it will a usb drive. But windows lacks the ability to read that format so it wont allow you to mess with the data stored on a 360 formatted USB drive (to try to keep you from cheating mainly). I use a 2gb kensington micro SD card and a kensington micro SD reader and it works great. Edited October 17, 2010 by madmax2069
