atariron82
Mine is low. 004417. Anyone lower? That's a pretty low S.N. It must obviously be a 4-port model. My lowest(4-port) S.N.: 0020582 (AT 183) then, 0119080 (SV 438) My 2-port model: 0195715 (SV 472)
OldAtarian
Mine is low. 004417. Anyone lower? Have you tried using a VCS adapter with it? There was a program where you could bring your 5200 to an authorized service center for the mod that enables the VCS adapter. Even if your serial number doesn't have a * in it, it still might have been brought in for the mod at some point. Something else I'm wondering, is if Atari continued numbering the units sequentially after the 2 port was introduced or if they reset 2 port serial numbers to zero and started counting up again from there. zylon
I've got the following: 135960 EP-273 2port AT 523 0629770 2port AT 393 0401667 2port A1 246 2080679 2port 0101390 SV-412 4port
psquare75
It's definitely a 4 port. I don't have a VCS adapter to try.

kamakazi
Mine's a 4-port unmodded. SN 0533092 SV-512. BTW, the way to check if a mod has been done by an authorized Atari Service Center is to pop the top of your 5200. If there are wires running through one of the holes on the cartridge port, then the 4-port has been modified to work with the VCS Adapter.

Ransom
I have #202620, an unmodded two-port. I have another in the basement, but I'm too lazy to dig it out.
tz101
Someone needs to explain the premise or supposed importance of serial number threads. The heavy sixer one under the 2600 forums is a joke. There is no database, and the thread is so many pages long that no one in their right mind is going to read through it. Even it a person wanted to, what is the point? This one escapes me...

The box has a name and number on it. Also, it was packed with a VCS converter. If my hunch is wrong, I just needed the box, and power supply. This serial number was replaced because the unit went to Atari for the VCS upgrade! I am not able to look under decal for original serial number. The MoBo is dated 1982. To me, the fact that this was Atari serviced, and not an asterik makes it special to me. Means someone must have loved it too, I guess. They took the efforts to get it upgraded. I'm keeping it. I'd love to put it in a better case.

I found a two-port in a trash can at a car wash, complete with controllers and power supply. I took it home, it didn't work but the case looked OK, so I got a new motherboard from Best and dropped that into it.
