1982VideoGames
Among a slew of websites I visited regarding the Atari 800, there was some mention that the a/v cable for the atari 800 may not give a color picture when used on a tv. B&C Computervisons has this cable: CAA005 Cable Monitor Color 4-RCA 14.95 5-pin din to RCA Would this cable provide a good color picture and sound on a tv? Much appreciated as usual! JohnBuell
If the TV has RCA jacks for composite video in and Right/Left video in, yes it will work. Usually it's an AUX input, and can even be found on some models of flat panels. The plugs you are looking for on the TV are color coded yellow/red/white. Hi, The tv (older Panasonic crt tv) has one video and one audio input jack. The cable would provide a color picture on this? Thanks.

We have an old RCA tv/vcr combo at our house with video and one audio input jack and I had an XEGS working on it in full color a couple of months ago. This is a 13" Panasonic tv/vcr - ok, sounds goods - I appreciate the help!
rchennau
I have an old Sony TV and that works for me on my Atari 800. Although I still prefer the SVideo cables running around out there.
+wood_jl
Careful! There is a "monochrome" video cable - a vintage Atari product - that will not give a color picture; this is not because the 800 can't do it, it's because the cable doesn't tap into it. A "standard" composite cable (not monochrome) will. Make sure it doesn't say monochrome. However, I'd suggest 8bitclassics.com for Atari video cables. They have a cable for $5.00 http://www.8bitclassics.com/Shop/TI-99/Peripherals/008817000039-5-Pin-DIN-to-RCA-AV-Cable-6-Ft-New.html If you are using an old beige 800, you might want to get the S-video cable (which also provides the yellow composite plug as well) http://www.8bitclassics.com/Shop/TI-99/Peripherals/8bit-savcable-5-Pin-DIN-to-S-Video-RCA-AV-Cable-6-Ft-New.html The latter is "the ultimate 8-bit video cable" and it's only $10. Either way beats the cable you posted about. There's a thread with info on the cable here: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/168575-where-to-score-chromaluma-cables/
