ComputerSpaceFan
This is a pretty obscure question but I can't find anything definitive so I figured I'd ask here hoping someone in the group has the hardware and can confirm it for me (or I'll see if the game is rentable somewhere). I have heard that "PC flightsticks" will work on the PS3 version of IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey. What I want to know is does my Microsoft Sidewinder make the list? I downloaded the IL-2 demo and plugged in my joystick and although I can steer and shoot, I can't do anything else. There's no throttle control, no rudder steering, etc. I tried every controller configuration option in the menu but was unimpressed with the lack of options. Then I read on this forum thread that they patched the full retail game to work with "PC flightstick support" however there's no definitive list and almost the only joysticks they talked about were Thrustmaster or something called an Aviator HOTAS. No mention of the Sidewinder. This AtariAge thread was the only thing I could find here on the subject but again not too clear. Anyone have both the game, a PS3, and a Microsoft Sidewinder? Are the fully customizable controls possible to map using this controller? I'd liek to be able to use this joystick with this game. Again, no worries if no one has it, I'll see if I can rent the title from somewhere.
