edintv
Hi everyone, I tried to do a personal payment in Paypal (aka gifted) and the tab was disabled, I contact the help desk and they say is disabled to "improve" customer experience. I talked with a friend and he has the same problem. Could any check their accounts and see if is disabled too? could be a measure only for my country or is worldwide? I the that the poor people of Ebay Inc. is not making enough money, they need our colaboration!

My guess is that you either excepted/received too many "gift" transactions. Occasionally I receive or send a "gift" payment, but for the most part, I let Paypal collect their fee. They are a business and probably remove the option from accounts they are not making money on.
horseboy
I think you have to have a paypal balance to be able to send a gift. No credit card stuff.

Mayhem
I thought paying someone via Paypal balance didn't incur a fee...? Or has that changed too... I think you have to have a paypal balance to be able to send a gift. No credit card stuff. No, you can do it if you have a bank account attached to the Paypal.

I do it through instant transfer from my bank account. I never really keep a PayPal balance.
Crazy Climber
From what I understand you can send a "gift" payment with no fees if you have a balance. If you do not have a balance then you, the buyer, has to pay the fees. Basically paypal still gets there money, the buyer just pays the fees. edintv
After several back and forth emails and several complaints, I found out that they disable that in my account because they suspect I was making personal payments to pay for Ebay purchases. I only did that once for a member of AA, was a low amount and i don´t think i write something too compromising on the message. Maybe the Paypal account was linked to an Ebay So anybody take care and don´t abuse the personal payments option, they are watching any oportunity to disable it. The problem is that i´m very screwd, due the coin excahange restrictions I couldn´t link a Bank account to Paypal until I travel to the US and open the account there. Meanwhile i will get charged twice the fees for withdrawing money from Paypal.. I now understand all the hate you guys had for evilbay inc. edintv
For the people who had the Personal payment option blocked on Paypal, I use the "Mass payment" option. it only charge you 2% up to 1 dollar per transaction, so is a good saving from trying to send a payment trying to cover the comision. Is easy to use, but needs learning. I use the method of a tab separated text file with the payment info, I just upload and I send a payment in a few seconds. Havok69
Why not just open a new account? It's not like you have feedback associated to your Paypal account. edintv
Why not just open a new account? It's not like you have feedback associated to your Paypal account. I had an issue with mine, closed it and then immediately opened a new one with another email address. Fixed... I did so and I have the same results. Paypal is eliminating the personal payment option for several countries, including mine. I also haer that the same happens in germany, according with a guy I know (could be a lie)
svenski
PayPal seems to charge a fee for personal (cross border) payments too. I guess they'll clamp down on it altogether at one point.

It seems that the future is that paypal with become as greedy as Ebay, so it will disable personal payments gradually.

I rarely ever have a balance, and sometimes don't have enough in my bank account. But there have never been any fee's through the "gift" option for me. If there were fee's through gift, or if they decide to make it that way, just pay as goods is what I'd do. Tacking on that extra 4% isn't gonna break anyones bank. I have a bank account set up to be my PayPal money account. When I take money from it to gift someone via instant bank transfer I get no fees charged to me. I can see why they would get ride of the gift feature. They have to make money, and to be fair they probably desirve to make the money. Think of how much easier it is to deal with people online because of PayPal. If everything was money orders it would suck, and we would still be paying fees.
