RangerG
I remember this summer there were a couple posts about how basic systems and common carts were selling so cheap that a couple sellers said they were going to stop selling and wait for November and December (when prices historically jump). I saved some stuff to sell around this time, but I haven't gotten around to it this year. I wanted to know if sellers think the season has been average, below average, or above average. -- RG
MaxSpeed
To me it seems there is to much avaiable on eBay given the number of buyers! Just look and you will see how much there is. I just sold a system for less than I have been seeing others like it go for a few months ago, I would say this does not bode well for holiday sales on eBay and worse for the entire consumer market. It also maybe due to more people discivering they can sell there old Atari stuff on eBay and flooding the market. Maybe it is due to the bad ecenomy, unemployment, people just tightening their belts. Bottom line, you can always try and set a high minimum - I am not trying to discourage you and you have not much to loose, but I feel the market is soft. holygrailvideogames.com
I would say that eBay prices are down in general compared to the last couple of years. I have recently noticed an increase in deadbeat bidders as well. I don't know how many people actually give classic gaming stuff for Christmas. Lemmi
Big time down and I whish someone would get me an Eli's Ladder for christmas. Unless your into 3DO 4 Dino park tycoons have shown up on ebay in the past 2 weeks and before that only one in about 2 years they are grabbing $150+ per game (i payed $175 for mine) A RARE Korean game firewall has finally been confirmed to exist and it has been on ebay 3 times in the past month going for $200+
Snider-man
eBay has become a buyer's market - that's for sure. I've seen prices really come down. Doobie-doo-down-down. Comma-comma-down-doobie-doo-down-down.
oesii
all the business newsites are saying that there are way too many buyers and not enough sellers on eBay and that will hurt the stock in the long term. I'm not sure how that works, it seems that having too many buyers would make prices go up on wanted items?
RangerG
It sounds like what I thought from looking at completed items. The last few years at this time I saw systems going for twice what they would in the summer. I think common Atari stuff is in a soft market (good for buyers), but I think rare stuff still has a market, but Christmas doesn't really affect rare stuff and big collecters. I'll save my stuff to trade at PhillyClassic .
sku_u
Given the recent scandals involving Ebay Sellers and the fact that you can drive a truck through the holes in their buyer protection program, I think people are just getting sick of being screwed. For every 50 or so purchases, you will get ripped off at least several times as a buyer. Ebay needs to revamp their site and maybe play a more active role in auctions. Especially auctions that run over the $100 mark.
