Snider-man
DAY 10 PRIZE: Boxed Tomboy and loose Krull for the 2600! Today’s game is a brainsmasher, so stay sharp. I call it “The Code Within a Code Within a Code” game. Here’s how it works: Below is a series of binary numbers. Convert those to their numeric equivalent. THEN, take those numbers and convert them over to their alphabetic equivalents (Using A=1, B=2, C=3…Z=26 as your key.) See what that spells, THEN convert THAT over to another set of letters. That final set will spell a single Christmas word. THAT is the answer to the contest. The first to post the final word wins the contest. I’ve all but told you how to solve this, but it’ll take a chunk of time to do so. Here are a few more clarifications: 1. I’ve deliberately grouped them into lines as shown for a reason. Try to keep certain sets of numbers together as shown. 2. As always, you may only post your guess once. More than one post and you shall be disqualified. Make sure you’re certain of your answer before posting. 3. Again, you may not edit your message. If your list is corrected or edited after you've posted it, it shall be voided. (That way, someone won't immediately post some gibberish, go research, then come back and correct it - effectively making them "first.") (In case anyone needs a reminder of the rules, go here.) So, what’s my message? Good luck: 00110-01111-10101-10010-10100-00101-00101-01110 00110-01001-00110-10100-00101-00101-01110 00110-01001-10110-00101 10100-10111-00101-01100-10110-00101

DEBRO
NOEL
Snider-man
(Wow, once again, that was faster than I possibly thought ANYONE would solve it.) We have a winner! DEBRO was the first to post the correct uncoded word - NOEL - and wins today’s prize. If DEBRO will PM his name and address, I’ll get the prize in the mail to him. Of course, DEBRO is now ineligable to win any of the other conetsts in the 12 DAYS OF ATARI, except for the Big Day 12 Giveaway that’s open to everyone who bothers to enter. And here’s how the code was cracked: We begin with this series of four lines of binary code: 00110-01111-10101-10010-10100-00101-00101-01110 00110-01001-00110-10100-00101-00101-01110 00110-01001-10110-00101 10100-10111-00101-01100-10110-00101 Converting these into numbers is easy using any one of several on-line binary-to-number converters: 6-15-21-18-20-5-5-14 6-9-6-20-5-5-14 6-9-22-5 20-23-5-12-22-5 Using the the A=1…Z=26 key, substitute, and you get: F-O-U-R-T-E-E-N F-I-F-T-E-E-N F-I-V-E T-W-E-L-V-E And if you use the A=1….Z=26 key AGAIN, you get the following: 14=N 15=O 5=E 12=L For the final word “NOEL.” How’s THAT for a code-buster? When we come back tomorrow, here’s what’s up for grabs: The AtariAge Berzerk Package! That’s right: Mr Roboto and Berzerk: Voice-Enhanced – autographed by their respective creators! Plus, an original Berzerk cart to round out the collection! (Manuals are also included for these!) I’d like to thank Albert and Alex of AtariAge for providing this prize for the conest series. NOTICE: Day 11’s contest will be run differently from other conests thus far. Watch for an announcement in the Contests Forum later today. Inky
You shouldrename the contests to 'Snider-Man's 12 days of Christams Blink And You Miss It Contest'!

Snider-man
That's the tough one, right? Maybe then I'll have chance. Ha. Ha. Ha. Goofball. I *swear* I thought these last few would take longer, but I guess I underestimated some of the big old brains that frequent this forum. Also, keep in mind, I had to come up with *12* of these things, so I tried to make them a bit more accessible than some of my other "one-shot" contests. Day 11 announcement will be posted around noon and I think everyone will be excited about it. Sniderman
