"Happy_Dude's Crypto Contest"

So I finally decided to have a contest

The prize is a PAL cart (Just thought I'd warn people)

O.k so Snider-man kinda gave out the answer to the

encryption I was using initially (what are the odds? That kinda freaked me out)

but I'm to lazy to change it at the last second

so I just changed the word from what you would win

to a puzzle you have to solve to win.

The cart will still remain a mystery!

Decode this and tell me it's significance to Atari

01000

00101

01110

10100

00101

1 guess per person until I reset the guesses

If this contest ends up being too long I may start giving clues.

This isn't the same as Snider-man's btw ;) Have fun :)

Like I said here there may be something else up for grabs. ;) ;) ;)

(So don't let the PAL status of the cart deter you)

and if you think you have solved it "POST IT HERE", Don't

PM me asking if you have it right (You know who you are).

That will stop others making the same mistake :)

In short: my guess is 'Sente'

To explain:

Using the same binary to number to letter code as the other contest, I get 'hente'. It seems to be a common word in Danish, and it's also a misspelling of hentai (I wish I didn't know that). Reading the numbers in other directions gives 'BTNet' and 'tent B', which means nothing to me.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you actually meant 'sente', a term from the Japanese game of Go (thus you keep saying 'GO').

GO to the above link (there may be a clue or 2)
the contest is a GO ;)

When the founders of Atari were trying to come up with a name for the company, they had some trouble at first. They couldn't get their first choice 'Syzygy', or 'BD inc' or 'DB inc' (from the last initials of Bushnell and Dabney). Then:

Inspiration occurred at last, once again in an informal atmosphere. Bushnell and Dabney were both keen players of Go, a Japanese strategy game, and their best brainstorming always occurred over a good game and a bottle of beer.

This time, they decided to make a list of several Go words to see if one of them would fly as the new corporate name.

First choice was "Sente", which means "the upper hand" - something that greatly appealed. Second and third choices were "Atari", which has a similar meaning to the English word "check", and "Hanne", an acknowledgement of an over-taking move.

After Bushnell left Atari, he bought a company that was founded by some ex-Atarians and renamed it Sente Technologies, which was soon purchased by Bally/Midway.

We have a tie

Channel 2 and church.

I did mean Sente "The initiative" ;)

But the code actually reads Hente

Congratulations to Channel 2 for going out on a limb

I messed up the encryption after I had to change the word :(

This is where the H comes in

h v m g v

Reverse Alphabet encryption

a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z

z y x w v u t s r q p o n m l k j i h g f e d c b a

You can see what happened :(

Tie break time:

Only Channel 2 and church can participate now

as it is a tie ;)

First person to explain what Syzygy means wins :)

( As long as their correct ;) )

Well a lot of people on the boards mightn't have a PAL system

so it seemed logical.

And I have about 10 Juniors anyway ;)

I just realized about possible issues now. Will this thing even run here? Are the voltages the same?

It dosen't matter. its just a console.

All you need is a PAL capable T.V.

You should already have a 9 volt power pack,

If not Bite the bullet and buy one ;)
