Guitar Hero No More

In addition to the saturation I think a big mistake of the GH/RB lines is they started having a lot of boring songs to play. They thought they could pop on any hit tune and it'd work, but forgot about the VIDEO GAME aspect of it.

Case in point: AC/DC songs may rock, but they were boring to play in RB. It was a bunch of repeating mid-tempo rythyms more or less.. It may be great to play actually play those songs, but how is that fun in a video game? It wasn't. :P

Agreed on the AC/DC point.. and yes I'd have to say that Metallica and GH World Tour were the ones I probably enjoyed out of all them. I'll go ahead and give kudos to I & II mostly just because they were much more selective about how the song "fit" with the gameplay (see Ne146's comments).

Honestly, I think they just assumed everyone would import AC/DC to the main game so they just threw the "game" together so they could do that Wal-Mart exclusive nonsense.

See, I like what Rock Band does because instead of coming out with a new game every six months, they just all do DLC. And it was never about trying to play guitar like it was a "real" instrument, its just about having fun and enjoying the music. Its a great party game. Its ok solo, but nothing to write home about.

And GH:A makes me rage. Its actually the only GH game I own (though I have a huge Rock Band collection). Disappointing amount of songs, disappointing track list from the band, just disappointing everything. It isn't a party game and by the time it came out, it wasn't a new or exciting experience. It was like AC/DC Rock Band without the ability to import songs to the better game.

Guitar Hero was fun while it lasted. I Had GH 1&2 for the PS2 and World Tour and Metallica for the Wii. I'd say GH2 was my favorite, but world Tour opened itself up as a party game with the mic and drums. But, with all that said, I didn't feel the need to buy any more versions of the game.

And I don't know what was up with that whole "Warriors of Rock" thing...

wow...and all that when I really started getting into rhythm games. Bought the World Tour combo for cheap last year but it was not until recently that I really started playing and enjoying it. Well, at least I can grab some games for cheap for years to come.

If you're really digging the rhythym genre, check out the grandaddies of the genre (mostly Konami stuff). There's plenty of stuff out there for people just getting into it.
