electronicsibley
Welcome to the Atari 7800 serial number list! A big thanks to @toymailman, who was the original OP. If possible, please post a picture of your systems serial number when submitting. If anyone has questions, suggestions or interesting background info, please don't hesitate to reach out. Order from earliest to latest consoles is as follows: "EP" - these were the original 5000 made in El Paso Texas in mid 1984. "AT84" - early batch still with Atari Inc. "AT85" - early batch now with Atari Corp "A1" - initial models still had the expansion interface "A1" - later models lost the expansion interface "A3" - next run of the 7800 units "X" - final run of 7800 units? "U" - undetermined serial number that cannot be attributed to a production run Production Run Serial Number Owner Notes EP 000166 Protari EP 000293 Crazymoon67 EP 000517 Sean39 has original color line gradient EP 000573 alortegac EP 001059 Adamj91 has box and manual EP 001292 Fyrebird EP 002574 toymailman CIB with all packaging EP 002953 phattyboombatty has ROY color line gradient EP 003976 toymailman EP 004179 atariguy1021 EP 005802 Mitch EP 007965 Leonard Smith EP 008042 Tubular Gearhead EP 008072 supavgx EP 008201 evad999 Has box and manual EP 009706 7800 AT84 00008 Mulletizer AT84 01672 bigscarymike has expansion port AT84 01675 Nateo AT84 03172 Corby AT84 03242 Lemmi AT84 05435 Retrogamer81081 AT84 06528 famicommander AT84 07751 Illtiger1 AT84 08200 E-MAN2001 AT84 08385 Crazymoon67 Has expansion port AT84 09103 PacManPlus cool Silver paint job AT84 10728 Mitch AT84 13423 Crazymoon67 Has expansion port AT84 14616 Mitch AT84 16922 toymailman CIB with the stickers AT84 16972 Brian R. phattyboombatty
Nice! Neat to see the "Warner Communications Company" yet on that early 1984 model. I thought mine was a pretty early model, since it has the Expansion Interface on the side. But my serial number begins with an "A1". I have A1 76 5803182. Lynxpro
Impressive. Did you buy any of those during the limited 1984 test launch? I'd prefer to have one of those translucent cases that Atari Inc. produced for internal mold testing. I also like the white "Jaguar" case that one user posted on Facebook [on Atari's wall] which was from the dental instrument mold.

toymailman
Impressive. Did you buy any of those during the limited 1984 test launch? No, just the last few years. That would've been cool though. I am still searching for a very early model. I think the first batch of 5000 produced in El Paso had an "EP" in the serial number somewhere. +Mitch
Not counting protos, I believe my earliest one is AT8414616. Though I have a few more 7800s boxed up somewhere. Mitch

Tubular Gearhead
I have two with the expansion port, and three w/o. One of the expansion port ones is one of the early models made in El Paso Tx (note the "EP" in the serial #) That brings up a question that maybe one of the experts can answer for me. I had always heard that there were only 5000 of these made in Texas, but mine is #8042. So did they start numbering at one, or a later number? Did they make more than 5000? Also, it has "Made in Taiwan" printed, but it clearly says "EP 264" in the serial??? Any thoughts? Here are all of them, including the non expansion port ones just for the heck of it... Cheers! toymailman
I moved mine 7800's from post #1 so that can be where I keep the list. ------------------ I don't have any of the original 5000 that I found discussed in other threads, but I have a few that start with an "AT" (both 84 and 85). The 84's are Atari Inc. while the 85's have an Atari Corp on them. I have: AT8416922 (CIB with the stickers and Rescue on Fractalus on cover) AT8430276 AT8450981 AT8453505 AT8460391 AT8462898 AT85027591 AT85027818

When I saw this post, I decided to check my serial numbers and came across an oddball. Help me out with this one: It looks to be made in China, and I assume it does not have the expansion interface. This one might be after the "A3" series. I'll add it in the list at the end unless someone knows better.

The solder pads for the expansion port are still on the motherboard, but the pins are missing. edit.. it appears that d2f's username has broken the quote tag. Hacker!! bennybingo
Are any of these systems serial #'s more coveted than others? If so, what is the difference between them?
Tubular Gearhead
Are any of these systems serial #'s more coveted than others? If so, what is the difference between them? There are some older threads about the differences. Here is one about the 1984 earlier models... http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/9812-1984-7800s/ There are a much smaller number of these earlier models out there, they were made in Texas , and they also tend to be fully socketed on the motherboard. It took me a while to find one, so they hold more value to me. I think some of the back history on the 7800 is pretty interesting stuff. I still want to figure out exactly what that weird serial # I have on one of my consoles means (the pic I posted earlier - X 210 011292)
TwinChargers
Here are my two- A1 76 5804969 (has expansion port) A3 07 5292755 (no expansion) Interesting to learn what the different serial #'s mean, even if mine are uneventful.

toymailman
AT8462542 A187 5410351 Does your A1 unit have the expansion port. I am assuming it does not.
