Atarifever
Just topped my old Food Fight high score, so I'd like to give that one a try. Edited March 13, 2011 by Atarifever

roadrunner
No love for Midnight Mutants? IMO that's one of the best video games ever.
+SpiceWare
Voted for a game I have. I don't have it, nor Kung Fu Master. Minimum KFM at ebay is $40, which is more than I care to pay. What emulator options exist for Mac? I know MESS is an option, but I'm not a fan - I find it very appropriately named.

I don't know if the Prosystem emulator would work on it or not. There has to be someone reading this thread who knows more about this than me. Gorfy
Another question related to emulation: where do you find ROM's and manual scans for 7800 homebrews, such as Failsafe? I'd like to buy them all, but I'm mired in a bit of poverty at the moment. Besides, my 7800 console still needs repair (gotta teach myself how to solder and whatnot). thursday83
Enough with the Food Fight already. I know it's a great game, one of the better ones for the system, but for those of us in the HSC, it's been voted in almost every time it is an option to. We need to keep more variety, and also support the homebrew artists as well. I think it would spur a little more interest for people to buy games like Failsafe, or whatever, if there is some online competition for it. Every sale counts for those who make the homebrews. How is the decision process with these polls made up, anyway? Do you just pick a random 6 games, or is it a computerized lottery, or what? With such a small library of games, it would be nice to see some of the rarer selections make it into the high score club. Otherwise it's always Centipede and Food Fight. It was nice to see Ninja Golf up there a few months back, that was a fun competition.

Most of these games are new to me, as I just purchased a 7800 console a year ago, so I simply vote for a game I'd like to try. If it helps, I'm willing to rescind my vote and abstain from voting in the future since it doesn't matter that much to me which game is selected. I like the idea of encouraging homebrew purchases very much. Unfortunately, I don't have the financial means to buy them very often

Games like Centipede, Food Fight, and Robotron have been played alot over the years in the 7800 HSC. But there's always new players and not everyone has the rare games or the homebrews and/or uses emulation to play these games. I try to pick a mix of commons, rares, and homebrews for the game polls. It was nice to play Ninja Golf and Planet Smashers awhile back.

Gorfy
If people aren't too attached to the poll, one suggestion is to simply play each game, including the hombrews, in alphabetical order. Each game gets hit once and only once until the whole catalog of 7800's is exhausted

Thanks, since i took over the 7800 HSC i added the all time records and hall of fame threads. I added a few new rules in the rulebook. And had to go thur that 40 page thread of previous rounds. Some of the games the scores weren't put all in one post. And at the end of the thread i put together a list of all the the games that were played. I took a long time to do all of that. I still wish the previous HSC Mod was still running the 5200 and 7800 HSC's. It would give me more time to play these games. I hope darthkur is doing OK wherever he is at.

Each game gets hit once and only once until the whole catalog of 7800's is exhausted That's not a bad idea. But some games don't keep score like Title Match Pro Wrestling. And i'm not sure some of us want to play Tomcat or F-18. And for the most part i like to keep the same format the previous HSC Mod had. In the Variety Pack we played this season, we played 4 games that weren't played before and 1 that wasn't played for at least 3 years. Maybe in the next Variety Pack we'll play another batch of games that haven't been played yet or for a few years. Yeah I really like the poll for most weeks and the variety pack for unpopular games during odd times of the year. As for having enough "Food Fight" that's like complaining that you're getting tired of having surf and turf once a week for dinner. I don't think I'd ever get there, and wouldn't mind trying to.
