Albert
I see that the active user list at the bottom of the main forum page is sorted by last click instead of alphabetical again. This is something I'm working on--I'm converting a modification I wrote a long time ago into a proper "Hook"-based modification that will survive forum updates and I can make available as a modification for the rest of the IPB community. ..Al

Albert
Just applied a small patch that should alleviate some of the problems with View New Content. Would appreciate some feedback on this issue for those of you familiar with it. Thanks, ..Al
Albert
I just hired a professional skinner to update the traditional AtariAge skin with the new version of the forum software, so we should have that fairly soon now. ..Al

Thomas Jentzsch
Just notice a bug with the "reputation given" pop up. At least with Opera, it appears far above the click, often even not visible.

Thomas Jentzsch
Will have to update Opera on my system and try that. Will take a screenshot and report it to Invision. I can help you out with the screenshots. I clicked on the 4 in the 2nd screenshot and the reputation was displayed close to the top of the page (1st screenshot). HatNJ
The View New content seems to be sorting Good again The Todays active content still has that sorting bug
Albert
Thanks for the screenshots Thomas, I'll post this up as a bug on Invision's site. The Todays active content still has that sorting bug I just looked at the first two pages of "Today's Active Content" and it appears that everything is sorting properly for me. Can you describe what you're seeing (screenshots would be helpful)? Thanks! ..Al

Also 'my content' seems to have been sorted, except that I always seem to have one recent post at the top of the last page.

Albert
Just submitted a ticket for the "Today's Active Content" problem (which I can reproduce), as well as started a thread about the issue on Invision's forum. Hopefully will have a patch for it soon. May investigate it myself today. ..Al
+Nathan Strum
Nice. We need to maintain a list of these problems so I can file all these as bugs in the bug tracker on Invision's site. That's the only way they are going to get fixed. Here's another. This entry no longer shows its emoticons/smileys. I haven't slogged through other blogs to see what else is affected. As a feature request, "Previous Entry" and "Next Entry" buttons would be nice for navigating within a blog.
GroovyBee
A short while before the site backup at 9:03AM (UK time) I clicked View New Content and it told me there was no new content. A few minutes later (after trying it again) the new content was available.

Albert
I have a support ticket filed with Invision regarding View New Content and Today's Active Content and they are investigating. Also started a public thread in hopes that another Invision admin might come up with a solution. So hopefully this will be resolved soon. ..Al

Why is it that they always tend to release way too early Betas? There are so many very obvious bugs which any decend quality control should find easily. +Nathan Strum
Why is it that they always tend to release way too early Betas? There are so many very obvious bugs which any decend quality control should find easily. I think this is a trend in software (and game) development on a broad scale. It seems to me that since companies were able to start pushing updates out over the internet, the quality of the original releases has gone down. It's almost as if they're saying, "Well, if there's a problem, we'll patch it." Admittedly, this has also coincided with an increase in the complexity of software as well, so that's a factor. But more often than not, I feel that many software companies overlook what should be really obvious problems, because it doesn't take us very long to find them at all. I don't know if it's arrogance, ignorance, laziness or just a lack time or money to do the proper testing. I tend to think it's a combination of all of the above, but it's really getting tiresome. (Sorry for the rant - I've been running into these problems a lot at work lately, and many of them are just inexcusable.)

NE146
Yeah it's just funny to me how some basic functions like "view my posts" and "view new content" which are basic forum functions can be so borked I mean really. The forum is at least usable though so I'm not really complaining, I'm just thinking it's funny how they did it. Just changed the frequency with which the search results are updated--instead of every 15 minutes, I reduced this down to 5 minutes. This means that new posts will only take a maximum of five minutes to show up in search results (which includes "View New Content", "My Content", and "Today's Active Content"). Yknow.. as a frequent user of this (and other site's) forums, I could swear that before when I made a post, the "My posts" would pick it up immediately. But ok.. *shrug*. I'll take your word for it that that was the previous behavior. It doesn't seem like it now though. I posted nearly 2 hours ago in that "Mame Burner" thread and I'm guessing it won't show up in my results until tomorrow.

The forum is at least usable though so I'm not really complaining, I'm just thinking it's funny how they did it. I agree, I started a thread a few days ago titled, "View New Content and Searches - Seriously? Again? Very unhappy after upgrading to 3.1.4". I'd link to it, but it's in a private customer forum. Yknow.. as a frequent user of this (and other site's) forums, I could swear that before when I made a post, the "My posts" would pick it up immediately. But ok.. *shrug*. I'll take your word for it that that was the previous behavior. Now that you say this, it probably was instantaneous before. I think they added Sphinx support for "My Posts", "View New Content" and "Today's Active Content" in 3.1 (in fact, "My Posts" wasn't even a standard feature before then). I believe they may offer the option to use Sphinx for normal searches and MySQL for these specialized searches in 3.2, which would eliminate the delay. It doesn't seem like it now though. I posted nearly 2 hours ago in that "Mame Burner" thread and I'm guessing it won't show up in my results until tomorrow. Yeah, that's a bug and something I hope they are actively looking at. ..Al
