Tr3vor
For the longest time before this came out, I said that I would not buy it, but I bought it. I'm surprised at how much better this is than pearl and diamond. The battles don't take an hour each no more, In fact, me and my sister were just playing pokemon, I was playing White and she was playiing pearl. I finished 2 double battles by the time she finished 1 regular battle. I love it. And now there are new pokemon, not bad, but not good either... one complaiint right now: the first bride, IS TOO LONG!!! what do you guys think of it? A_Locomotive
I'm digging it so far, but there is just something that feels off about it, not really sure how to explain it. It feels like there is less content so far(what happened to planting berries for example) and seems quite a bit easier, I just got my 3rd badge last night, way faster then I have in prior games. But I'm still happy with it, especially since I got it 25% off. A few things I do love about it though is they seem to have increased the power of bug and poison types to some extant, this is the first game where I can ever recall a bug type being able to hold its own better against more then just grass types. I also love the graphics as well! And one of my favorite things, I have yet to encounter a single recycled pokemon!
Tr3vor
Yeah its a bit easier, but I've heard that if you choose Snivy, then its harder. I did that of course because the other starters look as bad as Turtwig and those other pearl/diamond starters. I've noticed a reduction of tall grass that you HAVE to walk in, and a bit less trainers too... Don't you like it when they want to appeal to a wider audience . I started with smugleaf as well, my brother chose that penguin thing and there is no way I'd start with that horrible looking pig. If its harder with this one then wow, with the other 2 it must be a cake walk! lol
Mendon
I'm really enjoying it! For me, it reminds me of playing the very first Pokemon games, in that new Pokemon pop up and I know nothing about their powers or type. Each battle is a new learning experience I like the graphic's, the changing music, the storyline is different, and I like facing all new Pokemon instead of an endless attack of Ratatta's. I like that there are two types of grass (light and dark) that determine how many and what type of Pokemon might pop out. I also like the "moving grass" that indicates a Pokemon is hiding there. A lot of neat new things to the game! But there are a couple things I don't care for. One of them is that TM's are now reusable.... for me, that takes away a big part of the strategy of the game and trying to decide when to use a "one time use" TM and on whom. Another thing that is bothering me some is that the game seems to be going fast. I think I've clocked in almost 6 hours and I have 5 Gym badges already, along with my Pokedex saying I've discovered 74 Pokemon already. The longest battle I've had was catching that damn Victini. I can't believe the number of PokeBall's I threw at the guy before I finally captured him. I got him down to just a sliver of Red showing in his health and time after time after time after time he just kept popping out of any PokeBall I threw. I tried putting him to sleep numerous times and he always resisted. Frustration was setting in but I finally managed to keep him contained. Turns out that he's not a bad team member either as his Fire-Psychic type lends itself well to defeating many opponents. Mendon

The longest battle I've had was catching that damn Victini. I actually kind of like that they are reusable, in prior games I always ended up hording them for when they might come in handy, and more often then no I end up never using any of them, so now that they are reusable I can experiment all I want. I went through the same thing, with Victini, wasted nearly every ball I had on my first attempt, after catching it and realizing just how many balls I wasted I reset and tried again. Second time through I used my strongest pokemon and hit it with its strongest move hoping it would use endure. It did and barely survived, so on the next move I hit it with a quick ball and caught it on the second turn.
Tr3vor
You know the one thing that really bothers me with this game? The sleep inducing attacks. I use Hypnosis on an enemy and what does it do the instant I put it to sleep? Wake up. WTF why does sleep last shorter?! Its nice to have your pokemon wake up, but when I want to pound on an ememy, I want sleep to work.
Mendon
Still playing and enjoying the game EXCEPT I wish that the random battles would have been cut back some. I'm currently in a cave system and I take 2 or 3 steps and BAM....a battle. Take 2 or 3 more steps and BAM.... a battle. The vast, vast majority of these battles are the same 3 creatures over and over and over and all they do is eat up PP's while giving low, low exp's (230, 242 etc etc) if you decide to battle them. I finally used an Escape Rope, went back to a P-Center and bought up 25 Repels in order to try and get thru this cave system. Fun game but sometimes these random battles are a royal pain! And I know what you are talking about, Tr3vor.... I'm paralyzed and can't attack for a couple turns while they are paralyzed but pound away on me non-stop. Or I'm confused and hurt myself a couple times in a row while they continue to attack me, never hurting themselves, when I confuse them. Sometimes it seems like the game has it in for us! hex65000
I snagged Black/White when Amazon had their sale on Saturday. I look forward to some more cutesified pit-fighting... Ehhhmm.... I really liked the Leafgreen/Firered re releases. It brought those old Gameboy versions back to life in a good way. Hex. Tr3vor
I think there are more random battles than before, but I think that is because the places you walk through to get to the next city are smaller. trying to keep the same amount of battles, while cutting back on the exploration part of it. hex65000
Clearly I'm super slow at this game. Broke out Pokemon White over the weekend and have been playing it pretty regularly, and have logged at least 5 hours into it. I just got my first badge and am creeping into the next town. Caught a couple of new creatures, but it's obvious that I have a ways to go. The increased random encounters is pretty crazy in spots. As I was wandering around the Dreamfactory I literally would take one move action and have a battle on my hands. That and it was the same three attackers. <sigh> Still, so far the one thing I disliked about some of the later Pokemon games was the time-critical aspects to it. Where if I didn't play the game all hours of the day and night, there was stuff I missed out on. That was irritating, and why I liked the LeafGreen/FireRed releases because it didn't use a clock to determine stuff. Hex. Tr3vor
you know, its not that short, in comparison to beating the original gold in under 20 hours, I've played this game over 24 hours and am at the elite four.
