The Collectors Experiment

Hey everyone!

I think I'm not the only collector out there who has a lot of games in his collection which were only bought for the sake of having them and have never been played.

To bring those collectors back in touch with their collection, we came up with the Collectors Experiment.

In this experiment we challenge you to choose three games in your collection that you have no previous experience with.

After playing these games you can report back in this topic or, even better, make a video about it!

Let everyone here know how you enjoyed, or disliked the games you tried out and join in on the discussion about the games others tried out.

Through this experiment we hope to get you back in touch with your collection and maybe discover a hidden gem or two!

The rules are also explained in this video by Xed : http://youtu.be/azp5gaftxr4

The original topic where it all started can be found here: http://bit.ly/fhGZpn

Are you gamer enough to join this experiment? I hope you are!

I hope you like the idea and I'm looking forward to your participation!

Powerdrome - XBOX

What a revelation this game turned out to be! I'd never even heard of this game when I bought it. Heck, that's why I bought it. Well, that, and it only cost me $1. I figured this was yet another mediocre futuristic racer. On the contrary, this is a fantastic futuristic racer. Best I've played since the original F-Zero. The sense of speed in this game is breathtaking. Control is surprisingly good; graphics are excellent; AI is competitive. I can't figure out why this game isn't widely and highly regarded. Only potential flaw I could discover was that the track selection may be limited to only seven original tracks, but I didn't play it long enough to possibly unlock some more, so I don't know if that's the finally tally or not. Even if that is the case, this is still an underappreciated gem.

XGRA: Extreme G Racing Association - XBOX

Might as well cut and paste my Powerdrome remarks here. This is another excellent futuristic racer. Extreme-G originally appeared on the N64. With the exception of some great BGM, it was a pretty forgettable game. There was a so-so sequel as well, also on the N64, and a sequel called XGIII: Extreme G Racing on the PS2, which I have and remember playing once or twice for a few minutes, but can't say much more than that about it. Anyway, with a legacy of mediocrity to its name, I wasn't expecting much from this game either. But XGRA is a vast improvement on it's N64 progenitors. I'll be playing a lot more of this and checking in again on XGIII.

Colin McRae Rally 04 - XBOX

I don't really play rally games. The last one I spent any time with was Top Gear Rally on the N64, which I thought was an underrated game. I really don't know how to pick apart and evaluate rally games, so all I can say about this one is great graphics, great control, and great fun.

You did pick 3 racers tho, why did you go for that?

Did I misunderstand the rules of the experiment? I'm sorry if I did. I picked racing games because I have tons of unplayed racing games in my collection and I thought this experiment would be a good opportunity to start sorting through them.

no it's no problem, i was just curious why you picked them :)
