Tempest
I just got a hold of my Atari 5200 Balblazer prototype, and as I expected it's the same as the released version but with one interesting exception. The Atari start up screen actually says Ballblazer on it (the released version didn't). Why would they remove the name before releasing it? It also has some other very minor differences: The copyright is slightly different: A Lucasfilm Ltd Production copyright © 1984 Lucasfilm Ltd. Instead of: A Lucasfilm Production Copyright 1984 Lucasfilm Ltd. The Ballblazer League message (on the title screen) is slightly different: Certified For Regulation Play Interplanitary Ballblazer Association. Instead of: Regulation Certified Interstellar Ballblazer Conference Tempest Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/18-5200-ballblazer-proto/ Share on other sites
TunnelRunner
Interesting, I'll have to Ballblaze soon and check it out. I hope you have the manuals for the Lucas games, they are as much fun as the games themselves! zekish
Normally I don't wander into the 5200 boards cuz I never had or played one but I do have the 800XL so there are similarities present. The games were basically the same for both systems. I just wanted to point out that I believe the original name for Ballblazer was Ballblaster. The disk version I have is Ballblaster. I don't know about the start up screen and all but I could check later. Most of the stuff I have came from BBS's so I prolly have lots of promos. I believe we discussed this briefly in the 8-bit section.
