yuppicide
Odyssey 2 unit with 2 hardwired joysticks (I hope they work), power adapter that also works for the voice module, and 36 games (1 not in the pictures). 11 of the games are boxed. The guy wanted $50, but I only had $43 in my pocket. Sold. Too bad, last year he got rid of all his Atari 2600 stuff at the same place. No TV adapter, but I'll open her up and turn it into a regular RF cable. Is this a fun system to play? I'm deciding if I should keep or sell it. Thinking I might get a switchbox to hook all the video game systems to one tv input.
+thegoldenband
The Odyssey^2 game library is a really mixed bag at best, and there are a lot of games that just aren't that much fun IMHO. You really have to be in the right mood for it. That said, of the games you have, Smithereens is a blast (especially with the Voice). Many people think highly of Pick Axe Pete and K.C. Munchkin. I also like Blockout/Breakdown. BTW one of the very best games, Loony Balloon, wasn't released in the US. Totally addictive. If you decide to sell it, I don't know how much money you're likely to get for it, since the prices on Odyssey^2 stuff are generally pretty modest. You got quite a good deal, though, especially if it includes the Voice.
accousticguitar
KC's Krazy Chase and Killer Bees are two of my favorites.
Christophero Sly
Nice haul. When I began collecting, one of my first thrift store finds was an O^2 with 40+ loose games. Pretty much every game but Power Lords and the PB titles. I was surprised by how much I actually enjoyed the system. Nevertheless, I was more focused on the 2600 at the time and ended up selling or trading away all the O^2 stuff I had. I wouldn't ever collect for the O^2 again, but if they came out with a compilation disc for a modern system, I'd be all over it.
Mirage
Yeah, you got a great deal, and I don't even have the voice module. Play it for yourself to see if you enjoy it, it's just hit or miss. I agree with the above-mentioned "best" games for the most part.
yuppicide
Well, I don't have the voice module either. Only the power adapter that can work with it. I need to find an RCA cable around the house or go pick one up since this didn't come with the television adapter. Is Power Lords good? I was looking at the online when I got home. I have a question about the joysticks. You know where the two halves of the case for the system go together? You know the little seam between them? Is that normally where the joystick cable comes out of? Mine is sticking out there. Does anything really make use of the keyboard besides selecting games? I knew the system wasn't going to "make me a fortune" selling it. If I did let it go, it would probably just be for a few bucks more than I paid plus shipping... maybe $50 plus shipping. I'm going to try and test it out tomorrow and see if I want to keep it or not. If anyone is interested shoot me a PM and I'll let you know. Yes, that's the normal joystick cable routing, it's really odd. There's a few games that make use of the keyboard, mostly the more educational type ones, but my memory is fuzzy since I haven't tried any of those in years. yuppicide
You know.. I see a lot of games with 1981 - 1983 on their year. As a kid I don't even remember the Odyssey 2. I had Atari, my father had one, my Grandmother's house had one, my Uncle's house had one, and my friend had an Intellivision. I remember one kid getting a 5200 and saying how superior it is.. really? Broken joysticks shortly after getting it.. really your system is superior? I bet my Dad's Atari joysticks still work today! Sometimes I wish I was a few years older back then.. I'd probably have had a job to buy more games.
Mirage
I just remember seeing the O2 in the Wards etc catalogs and thinking they looked neat. If I ever saw one in a store, I don't remember, because I was probably running past it to get to the Atari! That, or I already had an Atari so didn't care anymore. Christophero Sly
I wasn't aware of the O^2 back then either. I never knew of its existence until I started collecting.
yuppicide
Actually I wasn't aware of a lot back then. Vectrex looks AWESOME. I've never owned one. If I knew back then I'd have also wanted an Adventurevision. Screw the expensive price tag.. I just like it for myself.
Ransom
I remember seeing the O2's in Sears as a kid, and I remember the O2 game reviews that were in Electronic Games magazine, but I never played one back then. It wasn't until the mid-90s that I got an O2, but at the time I had so many consoles and computers (those were such great days for 70s/80s electronics at garage sales and flea markets) that I only played it a few times. Recently I bought another one from a fellow AAer, but once again haven't played it much. I got sidetracked by the Apple II I bought from another AAer... BassGuitari
Well, I don't have the voice module either. Only the power adapter that can work with it. FYI, The Voice doesn't require a power adapter. In fact, you couldn't plug one into it if you tried. Just connect the Voice to your Odyssey, and you're good to go.
