Taskmaster99
Found this link while reading about the Wii 2 on MSNBC: http://ingame.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/04/13/6466536-old-school-super-nintendo-gets-new-school-makeover I have the FC 16 Go but would consider this as well.....mainly cuz I love these clone systems for some reason. StoneAgeGamer
Yes I hope this is good. I saw the prototype images a long time ago. I think they did a good job designing.
0078265317
Wii2 is all rumor. Probably never going to happen. As for the other thing they have a lot of those. Even one that plays nes and fc cartridges. Edited April 16, 2011 by 0078265317
HatefulGravey
When is this going to be on the market? I didn't see it in there, but to be honest I didn't read as closely as I should have. I wants it, I was thinking about an FC 16 Go but I don't really like the look and feel, this however looks great.
AtariNerd
Hopefully compatibility won't be a so much of an issue... Edited April 17, 2011 by AtariNerd

Reaperman
I guess the big question is if it will be totally screwed up in some silly little way like freaking *everything* that ever came out of hyperkin or all the other chinese mushroom brands. I'm sorry, but even the latest models have had something that just should not have been wrong. On FC-mobile2 and FC-16go it seems to be the d-pads, but maybe they've found something else to ruin. Yeah I agree. I am kind of waiting to see what stupid thing they screwed up. I have been burned too many times getting excited for a clone that sounds great only to find they is one or two major annoying flaws that I don't like. HatefulGravey
The D-Pad is normally the issues, but this one looks like its in one piece instead of the 4 button style I normally see on these things. I have to say that the handhelds I have, the GenMobile and the FC Mobile II, aren't perfect but I dig them for what they are. I really can't complain about them as they increase my ability to play NES/Genesis games in the car 100%.

I've got $10 saying that they swap the X and Y buttons inexplicably. If that doesn't happen and this thing works as well as the FC 16 (the D pad doesn't bother me so much) then I will buy this on day one. PSony
Takes original SNES controllers so that's an improvement over FC-16 Go. The design is pretty ugly though. I already have the FC-16 Go 2.1 but if the dpad is better I might consider getting this.

We want to talk ugly lets talk FC-16 go lol. This system is much better looking. I agree having controller ports is better, but FC-16 Go controllers were pretty nice and wireless worked great. PSony
I can already see one flaw in the design. If you're playing a 2-player game on the system, wouldn't the 2nd controller's connector get in the way of your hand? Compatibility seems to be better than FC-16 Go though. Supposedly it plays SFC carts out-of-the-box and runs Super Mario RPG.

You would obviously only be playing a 2 player game on the TV. Not like the Nomad where player 1 plays with the system as a controller and player 2 plays on a controller. I do wish the controller ports were on the bottom, but that little flaw I won't complain about much. Its other features that will or won't be there in the final production version. I have seen too many clones change from the prototype to the final production.
godslabrat
Bump. Any news on this? Any chance of an improved Retron3?
StoneAgeGamer
Bump. Any news on this? Any chance of an improved Retron3? They had a fire in the factory that is was being made in and it was delayed 2 weeks. My guess it won't be here until July/August. I haven't heard anything about any new clones from Hyperkin besides SupaBoy.
the.golden.ax
Hyper-yay. Can't stand the company. Met them at MGC in 2008, they acted like I was a moron for asking questions. Since then I've contacted them twice as a small business owner trying to buy wholesale (remember I've had a shop and sell online as my full time job). In both cases they did not email or call back after signing up for an account. Who needs you Hyperkin? I hope you fail like the rest of the cheap knock off makers. PSony
SupaBoy at E3: I have to admit, the screen and controls look a lot better than my FC-16 Go.
OldSchoolRetroGamer
If it ends up working with a flashcart might be pretty cool.
Algus
As neat of an idea as that is, I just don't see myself toting around SNES carts on the go. The idea of using it to test carts when you're out shopping is a good one though.
Rex Dart
Are defective SNES carts actually a "thing"? I've never seen one that didn't work. As nifty a gadget as this is, I don't really see the point apart from showing off to other kids during recess or something.
PSony
I use my FC-16 Go during power outages when there's nothing to do.
horseboy
The controller ports really ugly the thing up IMO.
HatefulGravey
I'll get one of these if the price isn't too high. I really dig my other handhelds like this. I do take them to flea markets and such to test games. There are such things as bad SNES carts. They aren't real common, and most of the time you would know they were screwed by looking at them, but buying one copy of Chrono Trigger that doesn't work is enough to make you see my point. Lets be honest about the real point of these things as well. Bathroom Street Fighter! Its a great thing.
