Atari Flashback 2 Mod - Any Front-Loading

Recommended Posts

I'm toying around with the idea of modding my Flashback 2 and I was wondering if anybody out there made a front-loading mod for the FB2?

Are there any reasons why I shouldn't?

Pics, comments and advice would all be greatly appreciated!

As long as everything is secured and isolated, there shouldn't be an issue.

When I do my mod (eventually), I want to do the front loading idea, but reside the cart in, so only 1/3 of the cart sticks out. :)

Ben Heckendorn did it like that.

Yup that's my FlashBack 2 that Ben Heck modded there.

He said he preferred that look and also I think he mentioned it was easier to nestle the cartridge connector that way so I am guessing there are advantages to doing it front-loaded.

One thing I would recommend, make sure you secure the cartridge connector very well because when I pull my carts out of that machine, I feel like I need to be extra careful I don't pull out the guts with it.

I'm sure Ben does quality work and I'm just being paranoid, but I figure it's worth mentioning for people trying out the design themselves.

If it's the usual hot glue fastening he used to do all the time, then yes you have to be careful. Hopefully it put some kind of posts or other support in there.
