phaxda
Well, I dragged my wife kicking and screaming into Thrift Town today and walked away 9 boxed 2600 titles for 99 cents apiece. At least that's what I thought, until we hit the checkout and it turns out they are having 30% off on electronics. (EARTH WEEK EXTRAVAGANZA SALE!) So all my games were 60 cents apiece. Nothing great and I actually LEFT an E.T. behind because, well, I didn't want it. I kinda regret that now, though. Someone might have loved that ET. We also bought a $4.99 vintage alarm clock; $3.50 after discount. That's what put us over the $10 mark.

MFoolsRun
Today was Tag Sale Day in my town. Apparently my town doesn't like games. I got a three-plug PSX for $4 and an original X-Box for $20, no idea yet if either work, but other than those two, the only other game related item we saw was a PS2 marked at $75. I fail. SRGilbert
I guess I had a halfway decent haul today. Hit about 20 garage sales today with almost nothing at all until I found one that had a little box with some SNES games for $1 each. I got: Ms Pac-Man Zelda Link to the Past Tetris & Dr Mario Super Mario All-Stars (the only one I already had) and the big find: Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars Not bad for $5 total since Mario RPG can go for over $50 on fleabay. Also at my favorite pawn shop, I got Rampage World Tour for N64 Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee for Ps1 Rampage 2 Universal Tour for Ps1 Final Fantasy Anthology with V and VI for Ps1 and Grand Theft Auto Collectors edition 3-pack for Ps1 All for $12 and the GTA sets is like brand new. shadow460
OK, the rundown: Hit half a dozen thrifts around 23 and Mac in OKC. The first two were dry and I thought about coming home. One was a Goodwill, and I was like heck with this. It did have a Superman novel and Star Trek TMP in the original printing, but I passed. The next one had a truckload of Atari joysticks. They have one that's similar to a Tac-2, they have a Mind-something joystick that has a trigger grip (it's not the MindLink), they've got two CX-40's (one of which has a second fire button hacked in), and they had a Newport stick and a set of paddles until I got there. I got the paddles for my Flashback 2. I also grabbed three set of headphones for $2 total, and one set in noise canceling. All three worked great with my PSP Slim, so I bought them. Anyway, next stop was one I hit all the time, and they had two blocks of common NES games. One cost and arm, and the other cost a leg, so I passed. They have a Model 1 Saturn in the box for $90, and a loose GameCube for $40. they also had a Star Wars CCG Premiere set for $3.50 that I thought of picking up for trade bait. The next guy didn't think about it--he just bought it like that. Next place had nothing game related, but I got a hardcover book that I've been looking for. Last place was probably the best. they've got a small stack of 2600 games rarity 1 to 3 for $2 or $3 each. They've got a PS1 system with third party controls (thought one was a DAP) for $25, but I don't know what model number it is. It's not the small one, though. They also have a couple of boxed Gemini joysticks, a few Genny games, a few N64 games, and a few NES games. I picked up an Atlantis 1 in good shape (what 2600 collector wouldn't take that chance on it being Atlantis II) and left the other stuff. Most notable are the Commando Raid and Sneak n Peek carts which are in excellent shape. I might grab Commando Raid, as mine has a small wrinkle in the label that I hadn't noticed before. I think the other games are Combat with the picture label, Tank Plus text label, and Pac-Man, plus a couple that I've forgotten the names of. EricDeLee
Found another good deal on craigslist.... The following Atari deal cost $30 Plus... a Light 6 switcher.... I have most of the games... but ended up with 4 or 5 I needed for my list. Not too shabby. Nice gatefold boxes and whatnot.
gulag picture radio
Wow. What's with all the boxed games this week? Awesome! I never intended to collect boxes, but I was looking through my stuff and I have a mess of 'em. This summer's goal is to sort through my gaming stuff, which is going to kind of be a nightmare... but I'll find where I've got the boxes scattered all around. then the tough part will be deciding whether to hang onto all that stuff, or convert it into some much needed cash. Mostly I've got 2600 boxes that are in okay shape, but I've got something like 40 NES boxed games in almost new condition. That's got to be worth some scratch. Anyway congrats to us all on our boxed game finds this week. Hope that we all get to keep 'em.

RickHarrisMaine
Got this on www.shopgoodwill.com http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?ItemID=3543669 I guess this counts as a thrift find. The unit's in amazing shape and works like a charm. I was playing pac-man on the Intellivision for the first time ever! Came with all the overlays for the games too. Not too bad a deal. madhatter667
I did some second hand hunting the other day. While not a "thrift" store, the cost was $2.50 per cart, or 5 for $10. Which I think isn't too bad for game carts I don't already have. I snagged: Gorf Star Raiders (anyone have a touchpad for it?) G.I. Joe: Cobra Strike Riddle of the Sphinx Summer Games Omega Race Porky's Amidar Word Zapper Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back A pair of TAC-2 controllers for $4. Essentially got Burger Time, and Frogger for the Intellivision for free... as the clerk just shrugged, and split the stack in two, and charged me for 2 stacks of 5. Gyromite, Boy and His Blob, Amagon for the NES at $.99 each. Unfortunately for me, the Gyromite didn't have the converter in it. It had 5 screws, and it felt heavier than the other Gyromite. Oh well, I suppose worse things can happen.
MFoolsRun
What's a Coleco Telstar worth? I passed on one today for $35, mostly because it's out of my "era" (had its entire lifespan before I was born). I did score a very dirty unconfirmed-working N64 (no jumper or expansion pack) for free, though. Also got a boxed NES Tetris, $5, boxed NES "Stinger", $5, and boxed Sega CD Ecco The Dolphin for $5. After my really terrible tagsale day yesterday, today wasn't too bad.
