What do you collect besides video games?

I collect 2600 carts, steamboat postcards, fossils, foreign coins, and musical instruments.

I collect Pac-Man memorabilia, Slurpee Video Game cups, some KISS items, movie memorabilia of the silent/early talkie film actor Henry B. Walthall, music (mostly vinyl), and I used to collect political campaign memorabilia.

 

I don't know if I actually collect the following or just accumulate:

 

DVDs of animated TV shows

Hardcover history books (mostly about exploration tragedies)

Simpsons Comics books

TOYS...of all kinds.

70s and 80s Character glasses (My favorites are the Looney Tunes, and DC comic glasses from the 70s)

Hard to find Cartoons (usually Saturday morning cartoons from the 80s that only had a 1 season run and were never put into syndication and will never see the light of day on DVD)

I used to collect comics...but 33 long boxes, Original Art Pages and some other hard to find items had to go. Now I just pick up the occasional one every now and again. Still have a few TPBs and my Statues and Busts though. ^_^

That's a good question actually because in the last couple of years i've stockpiled several extra 13" crt tv's (Panasonic and SONY) and VCR's (Panasonics) since their production cycle ended years ago and I only play video games on 13" tv's and i've got a large collection of videocassettes spanning several decades and record tv shows on videocassette to this day.

Maybe it is just me but I wonder if some people confused collecting for having. Maybe not. I have a few cds but thats because I listen to music that I like not because I collect them. But I see a couple guys here collect firearms awesome. I knew some people here collect toys. So besides games it would be for the moment coins domestic thats it. For the future comic cards which I am still debating on. But would like to. Great poll Rhindle.

I checked off a few things I collected in the past, but I wouldn't say I collect anything else currently. I am a pack-rat, though. I save ticket stubs from every concert I go to, but modern ticketing means there's rarely a "stub" to save anymore.

- Disneyana, specifically Indiana Jones Adventure and ride vehicle memorbilia. I have some awesome (at least to me) Indiana Jones stuff.

- Books on Disney theme parks

- Disney theme park music CDs (sense a trend there?)

I've seen wristwatches mentioned previously, and share that cruel affliction myself.

 

I also have a fairly sizable lego collection that I don't often touch anymore. If I buy one more brick, it'll be too large to fit into the patio chest that I use for storage.

 

I also have a lot of tabletop strategy and RPG stuff, though I never play. Yes, I really mean never--I don't know why I keep buying the stuff.

Funny you should say that. I must be a closet Smithers. I was always secretly disappointed whenever my daughter removed one of her Barbie dolls out of its gorgeous packaging .... um ....

Games is the first and only class of thing I have collected. I do keep pre-1990 20 cent pieces I get as change to use in my MAME cab. I suppose that is sort of a collection

over the years i have collected many different things from coins and comics to sports cards and memorabilia to records and postcards, today i pretty much only collect postcards and Atari stuff (mostly for the 2600) i also have a large collection of DVDs and music (not much on CD anymore have most of those converted to other digital formats and then sold the CDs) but i am not really a collector of DVDs more like i buy what interests me, but not really into collecting dvds that are rare just for the sake of it being rare.
