Voch
I'm not sure if this is the place to post this so please give a listen... I swapped an extra Atari 2600 console I had with my cousins for a reportedly dead Astrocade. I assumed the console just needed cleaning or a new AC->DC power brick but after plugging it in and powering it up all I get is either a black or blue screen. It has built-in games but I tried the carts but even with those plugged in I get the same results. I also think it uses an AC->AC adapter (as opposed to DC input like the Atari consoles) so I can't immediately swap out the power brick with my handy dandy Radio Shack switchable power supply. I tested the AC power with a meter and see 26V and 36V between the black and red and black and white pins respectively (without load) but have no idea if that's "normal" (documentation on this machine's motherboard specs are not to be found). Anyone have any experience with these consoles? Anyone know of an Achilles' heel with this console? I haven't played with this particular console over my cousin's house since the early 80's but have fond memories of the games (Boot Hill) so I wanted to give it a shot again. This isn't a really big deal. I have Outlaw for my 2600. Thanks. Voch
Rob Mitchell
Anyone know of an Achilles' heel with this console? They are prone to overheat .. and then the custom chips do not work anymore .. No fix. I'll give you $5 for it .. for parts ... Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA
