No I'd rather it was just left to pages on websites like this - facebook is for retards.

+RXB
Well considering that my Father has 8 Brothers and Sisters not to mention the Union I was in and I know like 400 people. Can not really say that Facebook or Google+ is for retards, I would rather class it as a better method for all to stay in touch. This site is mostly dead. We do get a message or 2 each day but my family is more active then that on a daily basis. Maybe it is that some people just are not social at all and prefer that, I am not one of them. It is not like anyone can force you to use Facebook.

+retroclouds
Myself I'm staying away from Facebook. I don't like their politics and I especially dislike they photo/face scanning software. True that its quiet around here lately. Hope that's mainly due to the holiday season. I've got too much real life stuff interfering with my hobby. Hoping that gets better starting september

Hoping that gets better starting september Well since Google+ was announced as competition with Myspace and Facebook they have already stated that a hack to make Facebook like Google+ with better security features. The problem with Facebook has all the security you would want turned off and you have to drill into it to get them set up. Google+ will force Facebook to turn them all on or lose users to Google+ as you are spared the hassle of doing that. with Google+ so this is good for everyone long term. And to check and answer Facebook stuff is like 5 minutes of my day. I spend more time posting then answering stuff. Most stuff is just if you want to look at it not mail. Mail is mail, Facebook is what people are up to. Mail is like a personal phone call and Facebook is like texting with pics.
Willsy
I'd rather read Jack Kerouac than use Facebook. That's how much I hate Facebook.
matthew180
Why is there a TI99/4A Facebook page but no comments or posts allowed. Since this is the original question (or statement?) for this thread, how about we just work on answering the topic instead of a useless thread full of the opinionated pros and cons of FB... As to "why" the TI FB page is closed, why not ask the person who made the page? Seems like the logical thing to do instead of posting the question here. Could a more dead page be created? Don't know, probably. *No page* at all seems like it would be more dead that *some page*, so yes, a more dead page could be made. Anyone suggest making one? Making "one" what, a dead page?
S1500
TI-99/4A websites/webpages/whatever seem to have a unique quality of being neglected or messed up. Guess the FB page is no exception.

Well as you can not ask as no input is allowed like I said, and Texas Instruments made the page. And they do not reply either. Anyway end of this thread.... matthew180
So do we need to validate our opinions with you before posting or is there a list of rules somewhere ? ABSOLUTELY! Do as I say, not as I do. What I think is fact. I don't know how you missed that list of rules?

Anyway end of this thread.... Now that's more interesting than arguing the merits (or not) of FB. Why on earth would TI make a page for the 99/4A? I wonder if they made FB pages for all their products? Perhaps to keep other people from making a page they don't particularly like... matthew180
Sorry I brought the subject up. I just figured a social site would not mind other social site links. FB seems to be one of those topics that turns a thread in to a train wreck. People get off topic as early as the first reply and start arguing about things that have nothing to do with the topic. I was just trying to put the thread back on topic by being a smart ass. Seems to have worked, you got an answer.
