SC3 / Arcade party 10/01/11 in SoCal!

Recommended Posts

SC3 is once again teaming up with Nucleus, an art gallery and store in the northern L.A. area, to bring you a blowout arcade and console event. The party will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2011, from 12 noon to 12 midnight, at the Nucleus gallery in Alhambra, CA. Admission to the event is $10 if you pre-register online or $15 at the door. Visit the Nucleus event registration page to order your tickets.

This event is still in the planning stages, so no attractions have been announced other than the SC3 mainstays: dozens of classic coin-ops and home consoles, SC3-TV, '80s music, a video game trading room, and the ever-enjoyable Rock Band. Please keep an eye on this page, as well as the SC3 Forums for more details about this event as they become available.

Putting on shows such as SC3 is a labor of love. It literally takes us working 4 days from 8am - 11pm (sometimes longer) to get everything set up. Thats why SC3 needs volunteers for our Oct 1st gathering!! We need a total of 8 volunteers to help us on Thursday Sept 29th through Oct 2nd with various tasks.

We need 2 - 4 volunteers to help move arcade cabinets from collectors homes and deliver to SC3 on Thursday Sept 29th and return them on Sunday Oct 2nd. This will be an almost all day task. We have two small trucks picking up arcade cabs from various arcade collectors so we need 1 or 2 volunteers per truck. Plus you get to hang out with THE APPLEMONKEY!!

The remaining volunteers will consist of setting up tables and chairs and hooking up TV's and Consoles and other various tasks.

More volunteers we get, the faster (and smoother) it will go.

All volunteers will of course will get a free entrance to SC3 and will be invited to our pre-SC3 Friday night pizza party also at Nucleus. Other comps may be in the works!!

We encourage all arcade collectors to transport their own games if they have the means. More the merrier and this will cut down our cost and time to pick up arcade games with our trucks. Collectors who bring arcade cabs will also get a free entrance to SC3 and our pre-SC3 Friday night pizza party.

Please get back us if you wish to help out your friends at SC3!!

In all the years we've been hosting SC3 gaming events, the most frequent request we've heard (other than holding our events more often) is for SC3 T-shirts. Every time, we keep hearing the refrain: "Why don't you have T-shirts?!? I want a T-shirt!" Seriously, it's like you have a fear of empty closet space or something. Well, we are finally answering your heartfelt pleas. Announcing the first-ever SC3 T-shirt:

size500_Untitled.jpg

Featuring the great work of our design master Geoff, and inspired by the arcade classic Zoo Keeper, this elegant apparel is guaranteed to cover your torso in style! The theme of this tee is "Breakin' Out of the Backyard," a reference to earlier SC3 events when we crammed way too many people and game machines into an unfortunate backyard in Claremont. With Nucleus Gallery's help, we've grown beyond that. The T-shirt is a way to commemorate this achievement, which all of our friends have made possible.

T-shirts are available in S/M/L/XL/XXL. The cost is $20 apiece. You may order them online through the Nucleus Store or buy them on the show floor on October 1st. Quantities are limited! No seriously.... we mean it.... VERY LIMITED QUANTITIES.

Don't forget: The next SC3 arcade party will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2011, from 12 noon to 12 midnight, at the Nucleus gallery in Alhambra, CA! As always, we'll have dozens of bona fide vintage coin-ops and home consoles on hand. Chiptune artists 8 Bit Weapon, virt and ComputeHer are performing later in the evening. GameGavel.com is hosting a video game raffle. Artworks inspired by classic games will be on display. An entire room will be dedicated to video game trading. Admission is $15 at the door, and only $10 if you pre-register... but time is running out!
