Fred Garvin
kankan313rd: Cool, a light sixer made in Sunnyvale. That's in excellent shape. Most of the paint on the bezel is still there. Bravo, on your great find! I ordered some reaper miniature paints, and I'm in the process of repainting the bezel on my heavy sixer and light sixer. I've seen the oil based pens that some have used on their units but it doesn't look right. I'm going to tape it off and use a primer first, the paint will be applied by an airbrush. I'll post pics of the process as soon as I get the paints in.

The Retroist
Hi does anyone know the serial number scheme? Trying to date the heavy sixers...seems like they started with E....but at what number and when did it switch to F, G,H....can't seem to find a pattern. How many total Sunnyvale Heavy's were made? Thanks.

atariluvr77
Just my opinion, but the H6 list is a little disorganized... not in numerical/alphabetical order, sears models out of category, etc. would really like to see a comprehensive list that is easy to follow. mtshark7
atariluvr77: Yea I know its a lil disorganized...I'm the 2nd person to take over the heavy 6-switch list and the person that originally did it, at first had it organized but I think stopped...and how I do it is I just add to the list, with no organization mostly due to not knowing the 100% understanding of how the serial # scheme works...I know the general scheme of it, but not the entire thing. All: I will post another update (hopefully) sometime this week or def. next week.

SlowCoder
Gak! I was perusing back through this thread ... I'm really hoping some of these console owners have cleaned up their systems, or at least plan to! Sorry, just being nit-picky.
akochera
I saw a few varieties from Atari 2600s at the Dallas Goodwill computer resale store today for $10/each, ranging from a couple heavy sixers (Atari/Sears versions), a light sixer, a couple 4 switch varieties, and even a couple modern retro-productions. This is the one I purchased: NTSC Serial: 11374G Sunnyvale akochera, Dallas TX A/B Channel Slot (Yes/No): No A/B Channel Switch (Yes/No): No Functional (Yes/No): Yes I have a question about the label. As you can see, there are two dates stamped on it, both of which appear to be later than the serial number would suggest. Or am I wrong... is one of them a production date? What are those stamped dates for?

What are those stamped dates for? Those are service dates... the unit was sent in for repair, probably has the aluminum switch strips for antistatic and possibly the red or grey ribbon cable which replaced the original green striped cable.
