Colecovision Auction Watch

Recommended Posts

As a matter of fact i did manage to get hold of one, so i was just wondering about the rarity, right now i'm not looking to sell it.

Anyway thanks for the info guys!

Can you supply a picture of the back of the cartridge? From what I am able to tell, the cart shell looks to be the TeleGames manufactured shell that they used for most of their reproduction carts (they also used the Activision and CBS Software cart shell).

I have seen a couple other Bit Corp carts (Meteoric Shower and Cosmic Crisis) and I believe that the authentic Bit Corp carts came in cart shells that were also used by Sierra On-Line, Fisher Price, Spinnkaer, etc. like in the pictures below:

Well it comes in the same sort of cartridge as my Telegames "Strike it", the ones with a place to store your overlays.

Anyway i bought it localy from its first owner (not a collector) with another 20 cartridges, a colecosystem, roller controller and a steering wheel.

So i dont think this guy went out of his way to produce a fake Bit Corp game :-)

There are other people that could tell you just by looking at it probably but the fact that he describes that it doesn't work perfectly like the completed version would seem to suggest to me that he is trying to be honest so I would tend to believe him. Especially since the price is cheap as hell compared to what people usually ask for prototype stuff.

What about this Proto ? Is that a good deal? or its not a proto?

eBay Auction -- Item Number: 2708780748171?ff3=2&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&item=270878074817&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]

That just looks like one from the run that was made about 10 years ago, or whenever it was.

That was released at the Classic Gaming Expo in 1999 with the manual subsequently discovered, reprinted and released at the Classic Gaming Expo in 2002.

These carts used to command very high prices on eBay prior to the CollectorVision release.

Exactly what I was going to say. Now that collectorvision released their version these are kind of just a collectible for completists even though I have no desire for some reason to get it. Also to note it has been 10yrs so I don't think the battery backup works in that release anymore but don't know for sure.

I would say it is worth someone who wants to say they have everything to throw 50 - 100 bucks at it on the expensive side but to spend way more than that is just throwing money away when you can play colectorvisions version and have instructions and a controller insert to help with game play.

Just last week the CGE releases of prototypes Pac-Man, Joust, Dig Dug and Power Lords all sold for well over $100 (if I recall correctly one sold for $168) on eBay auctions. As was mentioned, the CollectorVision release (standard and Probe 2000 kit) will affect the price that this CGE release sells for, but I still think it will top $100... but not by much.

On the subject of prototypes, once the dust settles with all the lastest release by CollectorVision and Team PixelBoy, it would be nice to see all the other prototypes start getting the CiB treatment. Maybe one or two can be mixed in with other releases over time and seeing that there may not be as much interest since everyone has the roms and others have the CGE releases, production runs can be kept smaller... say in the 50 range.

Yeah , and a huge thanks to 5-11under who developed the PCB especially for releasing it CIB

Even if the price of those PCBs was not cheap mainly due to the cost of battery and components.... I was able to release CIB LotD for a fairly decent price

Harvey, you're awesome man!
