+therealbountybob
I have to remove my Filler Up scores because I just realized I was playing Fill and not Filler Up II. I guess when I went to click on Filler Up II, I must have accidentally clicked on the game above it in my menu. I'll play Filler Up II tomorrow and post new scores. Sorry for the screw up. You can tell us how it compares... here's a new target to aim at 44,186 If anyone is struggling with Qix - use Filler Up to practice your technique - what's that you say "you haven't got one"? Then sneak a look at some of the screenshots from this and the last round of Qix and you can see what other players have been doing Qix Lv 1 bonus 44,412 [drat that sloopy!]

Filler Up 2 is a little more difficult. Gonna get right to work on that score, TRBB. Ok, adding the sparks does make the game a little more challenging: 27,000! I hate that they randomly appear...usually right on top of you. Edited September 11, 2011 by Deteacher

+therealbountybob
Oi, where's my 80 points for ROM That's the cheapest 8pts in HSC history (added!) hope you saw the new bonus point for 1KK just to keep you busy on Qix Anyone heard from a8isa1 - MIHSCA C'mon folks ROM is fun - if you are stuck and want to practice any level press D for the demo mode, then start moving the joystick when you are on the screen you want to try - neat feature (no cheating :!: ) Improved on Qix 393,056 Think I've managed to shoot a few ROM planes down on advanced by staying near the top of the screen and very low so more goes on that tomorrow... zylon
My favorite Qix port(even though it likely won't count). I might give the "clone" a play or two, but I'll pass on ROM for any format. Edited September 12, 2011 by zylon

+therealbountybob
I was going to complain about the darn enemy plane on Raid Over Moscow on Advanced but after a few goes and flying low down the screen, & near to the ground, I beat this stage, though my frisbee needs more practice 278,300. Found it best to launch a load of planes at the start. On takeoff I held right and fire until they faced right, then let go of fire (is enough to get you airbourne but not too high!) and headed for the hatch, opening it as soon as I was on the way. Found a bug on the horiz part was at the top of the screen near the last bit and managed to move up and appear in the scoreboard along with the missile and copter :!:

+therealbountybob
Just made 9x on Qix with 2 lives left but then bottled it before I could cash in (320K) Completed ROM on Advanved (254K less points than my failed go) and then on Suicidal (428,610) - I didn't escape on either though - looks like you need to defeat the last robot before the timer runs out so your planes can escape. I've tweaked the bonus point to on post #1 deteacher can you remember which ones you escaped from Again to complete the horiz scrolling flying stage stay on the floor for most of it. The plane on adv was easy in the end just stay still shoot and if you miss move up the screen (not in the air!) to avoid it's missile and shoot again at the last second. Remember this round finishes Tuesday folks :!:

Remember this round finishes Tuesday folks :!: I escaped in all three levels. If you don't escape, the news report says "all pilots were reported lost." If you escape, it won't report all pilots lost (and you get a cubic pant load of points.) The more men you have left, the larger your bonus. Oh, and a new personal best on Filler Up II for me: 42,390! Edited September 15, 2011 by Deteacher
littleman jack
Finally realized I had this one, Qix. Yes, Pro Qix = Qix + toddler pressing start mid go... I used to give young Travlar (Travis) another joystick when he visited to keep him amused when others were playing games but after a year or so he twigged that it wasn't moving! He's a big fan of River Rat. Off to post the Team Round Polls...
littleman jack
Another round of pro Qix. With the toddler and the game being so difficult, I've only managed 38,493. My average seems to be around 7,000 though. Some games I can't get a few inches before being hit by the swirly bad guy and don't even make it past the first screen. And then I have a run of good luck and make it to the third or fourth screen. And of course there's those games that don't get completed at all . I'll have to try the second joystick idea. I think it might work for now. He's (my toddler) a huge fan of pressing the button in any game, so shooters like Galaxian work quite well for him. And quite a fan of River Rat and Crazy Clown Jumper as well.
+therealbountybob
ok I'll spill my Qix strategy (though I still need to execute it properly to regain my HSC record) - listen up littlemanjack! use fast draw to make a (blue) tree or "T" like structure up the middle - make a hook area at the top like a question mark with about an inch gap into it along the top wall - take the big area as brown bonus - Go set some more traps and then seal the sucker in with brown if you can Generally make sure you use fast draw to draw most bits and just seal in the big bits with brown. On the double Qix rounds - branch across to fence in an area for point grabbing leaving a long section at the top for splitting the Qix Use slow draw to move around if you are under pressure and remember you can finish a screen by % or splitting so use this if you get in trouble. I forget about the % method. To be honest the Qix scares me into a panic and I start drawing even though the sparks are inches away - definitely a game that needs the sound up for added intensity I'd like to say forget about the points, go for 9x split then harvest a screen; but it's too tempting eeking out points on the early boards - then I repeatedly lose lives, swear (a lot) and then have another go OK folks it's here... VOTE in the Team Round double qix :!:

+therealbountybob
ROM 47200 - Didn't beat beginner not sure I can be bothered to try again it's too slow for me Just play on suicidal - it's a better game - the map screen is a yawn but once moving you can let go of the joystick. The best screens are the last 3 Qix change of joystick pays off 605,881 nearly nearly Don't forget the Qix bonus points: highest score screen 1 - in 1 man 1pt [sloopy 45,878] highest % on single Qix screens 1pt - not open to anyone who has won a round this season. [sloopy 98%] highest % on split Qix screens 1pt - everyone [no takers?!] beating the (my) HSC record of 629,634 1pt [Orpheus 638K] scoring 1,000,000+ 1pt [in your dreams]
