Which version of the Atari Lynx do you prefer?

Do you like the original model or the revised version? Up until recently I expected most people to say "model 2" because of its smaller size. However I've been talking with a few Lynx enthusiasts who actually prefer the original model. Some of them like the positioning of the d-pad and buttons on the OG. Another Lynx fan tells me he prefers the screen on the first Atari Lynx, claiming its not as "washed out" as the later models.

Where do you stand on this issue? I'd love to hear some detailed replies. Please tell me why you prefer one model over the other.

And lets just say for the sake of this discussion that you have to choose just one model. I know this may be a difficult decision for hardcore Lynx fans, but please humor me and choose only one model. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Definitely the model 2. It's smaller, looks sleek, carts can be easier to get out, and the d-pad is consistent across all models. It's too bad it's not as loud, but eh, it's not like I have to play it that loud these days anyways.

While I play the Lynx games on Handy most of the time, I prefer the Lynx 1. I've had both models over time, and the Lynx 1 just feels better built, to me was more rugged, and I liked it's look better. When I had the Lynx 2 I was always taking that apart and cleaning the contacts. Never had that problem with the Lynx 1. Lynx 1, from my experience, had better battery life. Many have argued that the battery testament is in fact reversed, but just relating my experience with the Lynx.

I think when they said "portable game system" it was meant to be that, not neccessarily pocket size. (though people with trench coats in the day could add a large pocket on the inside and carry the game machine that way.)

As a portable gaming machine, comfortable grip and all.

I like them both but prefer the 1st model. Just like someone said above, it's the one I played when it was launched and the one I really liked.

I did get a Lynx II when they launched that and being a kid with no money had to sell my Lynx I to get it. I've played that Lynx II all these years and recently decided I wanted the 1st Lynx that got me hooked. So now I have the Lynx I again and play it all the time. It is a great system to have in the car while my son is in Karate class.
