Xbox Live Gold TV stuff

Looks like MS will be launching more video content channels fairly soon. Besides the ones that say they're going to be free I just wonder how much of the rest of the content will also require another subscription. Obviously if you don't have Verizon Fios you cant use that. If you don't have an internet provider that has a deal with ESPN you can't get it. One has to pay extra for Netflix and Hulu Plus. I assume one will also have to pay for HBO Go. I personally can't wait for TMZ because I needs tons more celebrity rumor horsehockey. Edit: I just looked at the fine print on that page and it looks like Epix, and UFC will require an additional subscription and Xfinity is something branded by Comcast so you'll have to have Comcast to get it..

Since I live in the boonies..... half way between Hooterville and Crabwell Corners.... my TV signal is restricted to an outdoor antenna or satellite while my internet is restricted to Century Link. No other options available.

When MS announced ESPN and live games, I was looking forward to receiving it and all that it promised . But I was disappointed to learn that you had to have an internet provider that paid Disney their special fee to gain access to it and of course mine does not.

What MS is promising to now provide looks really, really good and I hope I can take part in it. But after being disappointed in the ESPN deal, I won't hold my breath awaiting my access to all this content.

the UFC will be like ESPN3 in terms of interactivity. they showed a person participating in interactive things like picking winners, just like the college game matchup picks in ESPN. you can watch videos, etc. But for the matches, they are pay-per-view format so if you want to watch the fights, you have to pony up the money. so for most of UFC, it'll be free (but the matches are PPV expensive).

I like the idea of youtube being accessable on my Xbox, most of the rest of it I could give a toss less about. Seriously, I already killed my satellite because there was nothing good to watch.

Why is it a crock of shit to use a paid service just because your already paying for a different service anyways? I mean, most of us pay for our internet, and then have to pay for a service if we use any additional ones, and nobody seems to bitch about that.

Because you pay for the service that they provide (aka bandwidth and so forth) and Xbox Live are not the ones that provide that service, Live does not use any resources at all for the above mentioned services.

As with internet, you pay your ISP to use the bandwidth that they provide (using a bandwidth intensive service also might effect your bill because your using more bandwidth)

As for xbox live, you should only have to pay for Gold for a service for what they provide as in online gaming, Zune (which is a Microsoft provided service), and maybe DLC (well not really because its set up to where they get a share of the price when you buy DLC).

The way i see it, you should not be required to pay for Gold when MS does not provide resources for that service. And i am not talking about the pricing for Gold either, its the whole concept on requiring you to have a pay service to get accsess to a pay service that they do not provide resources for. get my drift now ?

thats the thing, you have to pay to use a service to get access to a pay service that youre already paying for. its mind boggling really. if i already have an hbo sub, for example, what bleeping use is this service? why would i watch it through xbl instead of normal tv?

i thought it was going to be a thing where you could pay a few bucks and get access to hbo content, that would have been the ideal imo.
