For tips, definitely look for and destroy the hidden Sol Citadels in each level. There's usually 2. I think they're worth 4000pts. 2000 to discover (hit appropriate location on ground) and 2000 to destroy (second hit after it's been uncovered.)

That and be extremely careful how you die. Not that it's something you really have control over, but dying in the last part of an area will cause you to be pushed ahead to the next level. The ending section you end up being forced to skip is usually where a lot of points can be obtained. Since everything after that is only going to be harder, it means you'll have missed "easy" points.

New score: 111,170

Man, the second time around that the boss ship appears seems impossible. Immediately before it appears, some explosive device arrives and explodes into multitudinous shrapnel-like fragments. Once in a while I'll luck out somehow and not get hit by one of the shrapnel pieces, but usually I get killed. If anyone has any tips on how to approach this part of the game, it'd be greatly appreciated!

200900, my best performance ever.

I couldn't beat the third boss. Too much of a certain explosive device. Yet the record holder for that final bonus, more than twice my score! Whoa.

When you know that thing is coming, keep shooting and hope you can destroy it before it detonates. I have no idea if there's any way to predict where on the screen it'll show up though, and I highly doubt that this tip'll be very useful.

If you can help it, get farther away from it when you see it; that'll give you just a little more time to react when it detonates, and the farther you are from ground zero the farther apart the shrapnel will be when the time comes to dodge it. Not only must you avoid the spreadshot, you'll also need to worry about a few faster-moving projectiles that kinda home in on you. I wish I could be of more help, but for me this is much more experience, instinct and reflex. And I still die a lot on those things. Or similar ones that are lesser yet tougher.

Oh, I just tried again and paid closer attention to those shrapnel explosives of horrible doom and death. Maybe those extra projectiles don't home in, I don't know what it is they do. But I seem to only need to dodge one of them, while those couple of others just go off to do something else and just make it look even harder than it really is (which is still pretty damn hard).
