Austin
There should be an optional options screen for Streets of Rage 2.
CGQuarterly
There are some options that you can set, but you should just leave everything at default. Yes, emulation is allowed. Yes, rounds are two weeks. Chris
Austin
Went ahead and knocked this out tonight. Thought I was doing really well, but I ended up losing most of my lives on one of the last stages. 521,410 Attached a second picture to show I didn't continue (you get two continues in the game). +Cafeman
IIRC, if you continue, it wipes out your score and you start over with zeroes, right? So continues wouldn't buy you anything on a HSC competition. I never really focused on my score when I played this game. Curious to see how I do! CGQuarterly
613,350 I came SOOO close to beating the game, dying on the elevator that takes you up to the boss's office. Actually, after I took this pic, I hit 'continue' and went up there and rocked his world. This has to be my all-time best performance on this game. I have a few tips, which I'm going to post up in the OP. Chris

Jifremok
Three runs so far:Before anyone else posted, I ran this game on Wii, lost to Mr X, (took picture that I was too lazy to upload) continued and whooped his ass without losing any more lives. I thought it was a bit too early to be posting a score of 636400 so I held off. That, and I really wanted to kill him before posting. After finally getting a cartridge to play on an actual Genesis , I didn't even reach the end of stage 7. That pissed me off to the point of immediately trying again: Beat Mr X and had a life to spare. 730550. And now, some tips: Hidden 1up near/at that alien head thingy. I've found myself staying the hell away from weapons whenever possible. Beating up foes aint easy when I keep picking stuff up. (Ever have two weapons right next to each other in the middle of a heated brawl? Good grief!) And when I actually have a weapon, it takes longer to swing it than it does to just hit someone bare-handed! I just chuck 'em ASAP. You know what weapon I do like? Enemy bodies. I spend a lot of time being surrounded, but by simply grabbing someone and chucking him behind me things aint so bad. There are a few enemies that I'm afraid to throw though, like biker dudes, color Signal enemies in the late game, and anything that resembles a boss. I don't know how much y'all know about the moves, so here's some moves that Axel can use other than the Grand Uppercut: Backhand the shit outta people by pressing B+C. (Same command as throwing a weapon.) Basic combo can be interrupted with this, very useful when surrounded and don't feel like using that life-draining special. I tend to jump instead of backhand, unfortunately. The basic combo can have an extra kick at the end by...I'm not sure but it might be holding some direction and mashing B more than usual. The jump kick can be turned into some weird pose attack by holding DOWN before hitting B while airborne. This has light stun instead of knockdown, so can be used as a combo starter. Enemies may hit you after using this though, so use with caution. Jump backward by pressing left and jump at precisely the right time for Axel to jump, yet move backward instead of turning around. (What a damn shame I can't explain this any better.) Jump kicks with this could be useful if you're trying to retreat. Hold B for about two seconds (or more), and release. (You can keep moving while holding B.) Upon release, Axel swiftly kicks twice for some good damage. Other characters? All I know is that Blaze can swing twice with a knife, Skate is really fast and Haggar is in a different game.
