M.A.M.E Offender
A couple of updates: Qix - 58,002 Colony 7 - 117,325 Wow. This one sure is a button masher!!
JohnnyBlaze
Had another go at Galaga this morning and ended up with this: 1283770! Actually recorded this one too. This beats my best run on these settings, so will be sending into TG. Funny thing is, I was uploading a video at the time and that video happened to be my previous best of 1.192 million. Weird. The even weirder thing is, BOTH my previous best and this one ended on stage 100 Recording attached for your viewing pleasure BTW, I downloaded it to try and watch it, but MAME keeps telling me that it's not a valid input file. I'm using MAMEUI64 0.143u4. I recorded using WolfMAME 0.106, so there is probably some compatibility issues. Its on my youtube channel now anyway ----> http://www.youtube.com/user/BarraNZ BOO! That sucks. That would've DEFINITELY been a good attract mode for my cabinet. Well, at least I can watch it.

Ms. Pac-Man Turbo 121,010 first time i ever got triple digits New Rally-X 85,830 this is way easier than the prequel Qix 31,290 not a whole lot of time devoted to this one Space Fury 56,950 trick is to keep flying up all the time. that way the completed ships will follow you to the top of the screen as you surprise them from the bottom Solar Fox 45,670 ugh 3 ships is too little Galaga 131,740 now THAT's a score! M.A.M.E Offender
Judging by the low scores posted for Cosmic Avenger, it looks to me like this one could very well be the least liked in the tournament. It's high difficulty and awkward controlling can frustrate players instantly. But when you get the hang of how to use your bombs, it isn't that bad of a game. Heck, I've played way worse. When it comes to the bombs, you must remember that the faster you are travelling, the wider the bomb spreads on the ground. At full speed, it will spread a fairly long distance. Conversely, at slow speeds the blast area is very small. Cosmic Avenger - 17,660 You have to sharpen up your math skills to guesstimate where the bomb will land. If you're travelling at the slowest speed, the included angle is around 20 deg. At top speed, the included angle is roughly 60 degrees. You will be more successful keeping this in mind while bombing. My internet is out until Thursday at the soonest so I'll be kinda slow around these parts for a bit. I actually tried to post these scores from my phone but I couldn't even find the reply button on my phone's browser. B

Cynicaster
My first MAME experience came with version 0.42. A lot of games didn't work on this version, but enough for experiencing it for the first time. The second one was 0.72. Better than the previous, but was still missing a lot of good titles. Currently I am on the MAME 0.122 front end. With 6999 games(including duplicates), there isn't much I can't play. Thx to my bro (Cynicaster) for all three MAME versions. I got into MAME about 6 years ago and haven't stopped since. I wish I found it sooner!! I was almost 30 when I played it for the first time. My first run-in with MAME was probably in 1999-2000. At the time I had just discovered NES and Atari 2600 emulation and was having a good trip down memory lane playing all my old favorites on those systems. Then, I thought to myself, “hey, I wonder if anybody has made an emulator for arcade games?” So I ran a search in Google and sure enough there were MAME-related sites as far as the eye could see. I found it frustrating back then because I didn’t really understand MAME at all and I was always running into the problem of having ROM’s that weren’t compatible with the specific version I was running. Of course, I didn’t realize that was the problem; I thought the files were corrupt or something. Oddly, as cool as it was to be able to play the arcade games at home, I didn’t really spend much time at all playing them back then because a keyboard makes for an unspeakably lame controller. I decided that one day I’d have to at least pick up a USB d-pad but I didn’t get around to that until several years later when I happened upon a cheap Logitec unit at Radio Shack. Even when I got the d-pad, I would rarely play for more than a few minutes at a time because, while superior to a keyboard, the games still just aren’t the same when played with a hand controller sitting at your computer desk. Then, about this time last year, riding a new wave of retro-gaming enthusiasm sparked by a recent acquisition of my first Atari 2600 in decades, I decided I had to build a cabinet with real controls. It took a very long time to research and execute, and there were times when I was worried that I was wasting all kinds of time, money, and space on a project that I’d use for a few weeks before getting bored of it. As it’s turned out, that hasn’t been a problem because all these months later MAME is the only gaming I do anymore; my PS3 was relegated to video-player status literally overnight. Actually, thanks to MAME, I haven’t had this much fun playing videogames since the late 80’s.

Barra
Thanks rmaerz! Wow very close top 3, well done everyone! It was a great tournament with some even greater games, some I've even chucked in the "favourites" folder in MAME

Nah - you guys had a great tournament It kind of puts a damper on the celebration for being at the top of the tourney standings when the final tally still puts you farther behind the competitor right above you in the season standings (even if it is just one point). Damn, the fact that it shook down that way is a testament to just how intensely close it was. Very cool! I kind of feel like Apollo Creed in Rocky II: "Man, I WON but I didn't BEAT HIM!" M.A.M.E Offender
Once again, another primo selection of classic games which ended up neck and neck right until 11:59am Sunday morning. Great tournament folks. I will soon be forgotten as no one remembers 2nd place. The one thing I won't forget is how friggin fun it is to play in these tournaments. I had a great time, and I hope all that participated did too!!
VectorGamer
The final point distribution shows that Cynicaster was more consistent across all titles in the tournament but MAME Offender had more scores in the top 3. While we are on the topic of tournaments, I am hosting another arcade/MAME tournament on my forums at the end of January (that boring time of year when NFL action dies down!). I haven't solidified the lineup yet, but these titles are definitely in: Arabian Centipede Jr. Pac-Man Turbo
bigbee99
Close tourney indeed. Untill the Craptacular  1.5% seperating the top 3! And then Cyn wins the tourny but his brother comes up 1 point ahead! Rock on guys! In other news, I hit 588k on a 6 ship run of Solar Fox this morning B
