VBXE, Pre-Order thread...

Regarding the Atari side of things, would it not be better to finish outstanding projects and orders before starting other projects (SIDE, etc) For those of us who have not received anything after six months (and still without status update or ETA) to read posts of other projects, etc is a bit unnerving.

I wasnt doing any real 'work', I ordered the parts cause i needed some stuff for VBXE and other things, all combined I have spent maybe ~3-4 hours on SIDE since December, and this including candle talking to me about doing it... so, it hasnt really delayed VBXE at all, cause most of this was done when I was working my day job. The things i was ordering for VBXE, the Altira IC's, I dropped 4 of them, 1 I was able to straighten the pins and reuse it, but the other 3 were not so fortunate, and had to order more.

When i say the above things, that is just in the last 7 days... There has been other things along the way, similar in nature... I used to speak of the daily happenings on irc, but it was 'bringing the channel down' so i have stopped except for the 'big stuff'.

VBXE isnt the only thing delayed either, some people have been waiting for these for a while:

It is a 'Gumby+', its a dual pokey mod, but also brings out the 8 pot inputs (with circuit, so you just need to connect the pots), the serial line (to non-handshake/3 wire rs-232), and a connector for the second KB connection... the only thing it is waiting for is the boards to be assembled, they have already been tested etc, and one person already has had one since Oct. The only thing it needs for 'release' is the software made to support it.

So its not like I am only or specifically delaying VBXE, everything is delayed, and VBXE has made other things later, as its a higher priority project.

My apologies, I am swamped with BS on an almost daily basis... I have been slowly getting work done on VBXE and such, but with everything going on with my family, its been difficult...

jhusak, altho i have a few left that are not sold, I am holding off on any new orders until the backlog is cleaned out some... I will put you on the list, so when the time comes i will msg you with details...

Beamer320i, and mimo, (and two others i need to send sio2pc-usb's to) I was working on sio2ps-usb's, and somehow the USB of my server has ceased working, completely... so i have a 2U rack server, with no working USB ports... I have a stack of sio2pc-usb's i need to test, and I dont want to use my laptop test them as I use it for my day job and it would be bad if i didnt work ;') I just got a USB card and hub yesterday which i will be putting in the server so i can test these sio2pc-usb's and get them out...

I havnt been on AA much the last week or so, cause i have been trying to get caught up...

Ooooh new Gumby mod - should I just send you the 800XL I was going to use and a big wad of cash? :)

It is called a Gumby+ (gumby plus), since its a Gumby mod, plus more. They are beta hardware (i.e. they need a blue wire or two to work right) but do work as plain gumby boards, there is only one with the additional hardware for the POT inputs, second serial port, and a connector for the second KB... and they passed a smoke test/signs of life...they just need to be finished, and software written to use it... wanna see a pic of it? :') And yes, sending lots of cash will help ;'D

As for VBXE, its slowly still getting done... I have come to the conclusion some time in my past I was breaking mirrors over the head of a leprechaun, while standing under a ladder... all the while peeing on 4 leaf clovers... Dont know if i mentioned it in this thread, but my son hurt my daughter, and last week at the specialist it was confirmed, he broke the bone in her shoulder...

and one last pearl of wisdom i have learned in the last week... if you slice open your finger with a razor blade, hold it close and swipe a coating of crazy glue across it... it will heal pretty quick... (note: i am not a doctor, i am not even a medical amatuer, let alone professional... )

heh, I stepped on a piece of glass once barefoot and I used packing tape. it worked pretty well to stop the bleeding (note: i am not a doctor either, i am not even a medical amatuer either, let alone professional... )

Hi Chris, looking for an update on VBXE please - current state of project, estimated shipping date, etc.

Also, any news on shipping of last November's SIO-PC USB? (you promised to ship on April 20th?)

Regards,

Dom

on the 19th I got very sick, made the foolish mistake of eating at McDonalds... Didnt get them finished until middle of last week, and then when I went to put the USB card in this machine, it doesnt have a 4pin Molex power conn the card requires (the kind HDD's use). Yesterday I had my daughters baby shower, (yes i know, this is typically something a bunch of women get together for, but they turned it into a big party, of 50-60 people...), so... they will ship tomorrow, as I got up at 4:30am this morning, cause after the party I came home and died... my old arse isnt cut out for playing dodge-ball with a bunch of teens and 20 somethings, but my team won 6 of 8 games :')

so, all sio2pc-usb mkII's will be shipped out tomorrow... and if anyone else needs one, I now have a few extra...

VBXE, I have been slowly pluggin away on them, and they will be starting testing later this week...

(there are three that will be shipping this week tho...)

Gumby+, a few people have asked for them, so I will be sending those out, and asking for a 'interest in order' thread in a week or two...

NetUS-Bee, I will be doing the PCB layout this week, and hopefully sending the file to the PCB house early next week...

other projects, there arnt any... the above is enough ;')
