Tickled_Pink
I've had a 360 for a little over 3 years now and in that time I've bought Microsoft Points just once and never bought anything on XBLIG. The only things I bought were Pac-Man CE and Outrun. But I've been waiting for Orbitron: Revolution since I saw the trailers on Youtube a few weeks ago. It's stunning to look at. Looks like a Defender/Stargate clone with some enhancements to the gameplay. I've avoided Indie games like the plague on XBLIG although a couple of games have looked promising and almost got me to part with my money. When we bought MW3 for my daughter for Christmas, we picked up 800 MSP for just £3 at the same time. And this game is 240MPS, so 60p or so for a half decent blast is well worth it. onlysublime
there are a lot of fun cheap Indie Games. I actually like the games that aren't so popular. Avatar Ninja 2 is mindless fun. 80 points ($1) Head Shot 2 was fun Lumi there are actually a great number of Indie Games. unfortunately, people equate cheap with bad so some high quality stuff gets lost in the Indie section. plus, there are a lot of bad games there as well so it's hard to find the good stuff among them. HammR25
At least all the Indie games have trials since about 90% of them suck.
onlysublime
that's true. a lot of them suck. but the indie games section is the only true forum besides the android marketplace for anybody to make anything. you didn't need a publisher. you didn't need the typical $300-600K budget of an XBLA or PSN title. you didn't need the millions of a full retail title. it reminds me of the shareware days of the Atari 8-bit and Commodore 64. heck, I remember donating money to keep my favorite Atari BBS's going and to have my favorite online BBS games going. that said, there are some gems. The Indie Games is where a lot of programmers cut their teeth and learn how to make a game. They then go on to bigger and better things.
onlysublime
have any of you guys played Snops Attack! Zombie Defense? It's a pretty amazing SHMUP! definitely worth the $3 and something I think Jeff Minter would've been proud of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VpS0Ald5-g

onlysublime
here are some of the recent ones I've played and enjoyed: MotorHEAT. this is the classic checkpoint racer. If you've enjoy games like Enduro Racer on the Atari 2600 or Outrun, you'll love this game. Only $1. Orbitron: Revolution. this is loosely like Defender. $3. Shoot 1UP. another great SHMUP that's only $1 Lightfish. This is Qix redone for today. I liked it a lot. $1. Lots of Guns. this was an addicting jumper. $1. Rex Dart
Ooh, another chance for me to plug my XBLIG favorites: Escape Goat. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgNbX1gIrg4 It might look junky at first, but give it a try, it's great. The art & music are atmospheric & well-done. The mouse-buddy mechanic really makes the later puzzles interesting, and the difficulty is perfect. You never get too frustrated at a puzzle; you always want to give it "one more try" until you complete the stage. And name another game that lets you play as a goat who's been imprisoned for witchcraft. onlysublime
I just tried Escape Goat! that game was cool! I think I tried the arkedo jump awhile back. my memories are kind of weak on them but it didn't leave a lasting impression (maybe because at the time I was real low on points so the less points you have, the more stingy you tend to get and the more critical of titles you get to be). I'll check out that series 3 you showed. and maybe revisit the other as well. Edited October 7, 2012 by onlysublime
onlysublime
Speedrunner HD. few games make you feel like Spider-Man like this one. Tic Part 1. another beautiful platformer. Revolver360. a nice SHMUP where you can rotate the plane to avoid enemy fire.
onlysublime
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VhcagdlahE Decimation X3. a fun Space Invaders type game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpKXhiXyQdM Crossfire 2. a good sequel to the original Score Rush. I love this game! It's a cross between a SHMUP and a dual stick shooter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkHsjYGNwEE Beat Hazard. a neat dual stick shooter where you use your own music and the song affects your shooting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydmIUqJ8TXk Cute Things Dying Violently. a nice mix of Lemmings with Angry Birds. with gory deaths thrown in.
