Bigger than an Xbox... AND damn sexier!

I love my 5200. It was the "holy grail," the last Atari console I had to add to my collection. And to think, now I have TWO! And they both work!

And the cartridges - don't forget those beautiful cartridges.

There's a joy you get from handling a 5200 cart you can't get with a disc.

Of course, handle the disc too much and you'll just scratch it and it won't work.

Store a 5200 cart in a cardboard box in a garage for 20 years and it will still work.

:D

You are right. It is especially satisfying to switch games without having to turn the 5200 off and on.

All 5200 fans, Join the brotherhood and show some love for the Atari 5200. Thank you for your continue support. Any 5200 brotherhoods out there have any ideas to make buttons, pins or t-shirts, with the 5200 brotherhood logo. We need some 5200 brotherhood gifts. Any ideas for a logo.

I can understand liking the 5200 overall, but anyone who justifies the stock joystick for it is a deluded fool. It had a pause button, yes, but the fire buttons were mushy, the keypad buttons had poorly made aluminum contacts that easily broke if pushed too hard, and a joystick that didn't recenter itself, making Pacman, missile command, and games that weren't like Pole position or Robotron 2084 a nightmare. :-o :-o :-o :-o

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;

For he to-day that powers up his 5200 with me

Shall be my brother; be his joystick ne'er so vile,

This day shall gentle its condition:

And gentlemen in 8-Bit Land now a-bed

Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,

And hold their CX-40s cheap whiles any speaks

That gamed with us upon the Atari 5200.

Oh my God, Mr. Shakespeare, I am so totally sorry. :-o

Very nice speech brother. We will use that for the 5200 pledge of allegiance. :thumbsup:
