Cowlitz Gamers for Kids 2012

I am happy to announce the 3rd Annual Cowlitz Gamers for Kids Charity Videogame show to help raise funds for the Childrens Justice and Advocacy Center(CJAC). Over the last two years, the show has helped raise over 4,000 to the Childrens Justice and Advocacy Center (CJAC) and we're convinced we can do better this year with your help!

PRGE is once again absorbing much of the cost of putting on this show so that 100% of the admission will go directly to CJAC. It is CJAC's mission to provide children who have experienced sexual or physical abuse a coordinated community approach to investigation, prosecution and treatment that promotes their safety, healing, and well-being.

The show will be on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the THREE RIVERS MALL in Kelso, WA. THIS YEARS EVENT WILL BE IN A VACANT MALL BUILDING WITH OVER 42,00 SQ FEET! Kelso is about 1 hour north of Portland or 2 hours south of Seattle on I-5. Doors open at 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Admission is a suggested donation of $5 to CJAC, although we invite you to contribute more if you can!

Three Rivers Mall

351 Three Rivers Drive

Kelso, Washington 98626

What Can you Expect?

The show will be held in MUCH LARGER SPACE THIS YEAR this year than previous years. Like last year, it will feature classic video game vendors, a freeplay gaming arcade, a retro videogame tournament(possibly more), as well as a videogame SILENT AUCTION.

Confirmed vendors include Kelso's own Classics collectibles store, Y-Bot Classic Games, RecycledGamer, AtariCollector.com's Rick Weis, D-PAD videogames, Video Game Wizards, Commodore Computer Club, Lost Classics, andSpecialty Gamer. Expect a ton of good deals on classic video game merchandise including videogame systems, games, and accessories. In addition to outside video game vendors, there will be T-shirts and other merchandise specifically made for the event that will also be sold specifically to suport CJAC.

So far the confirmed tournament announced is on R.C. Pro Am for the NES!

The event is child-friendly so please feel free to bring the entire family!

Further Announcements will be made, so stay tuned...as I have some great surprises in store to announce once I can :).

Okay here are some of the silent auction items. The silent These have been graciously donated from gwyndion(Nintendoage) and a HUGE thanks goes out to him. The auction runs from 10:00 AM when the doors open until 1:00 PM. Simply write your name next to the bid you want to make on the bid sheet. Highest bid at 1:00 gets to purchase the item. All SILENT proceeds from the auction go directly to CJAC.

I've got a few tables for the show (as Mad-Gear) and I'm bringing a bunch of import games (sega saturn, neo geo, pc engine, super famicom, famicom, dreamcast) along with some super rare (no exaggeration) domestic Turbo Grafx titles.

Update: EEO(The new and awesome Tetris Documentary) will be shown relatively close to the hotel and game show. About a mile away from the event if that. It is right down the street from an awesome game store...Classics. Theater is at 214 S. Pacific Ave, Kelso, WA The move will be shown at 9:00 PM on Friday night April 27th. Tickets can be purchased from myself, the movie theater, Classics, and Minus World. Tickets are $10 each with a portion of the proceeds going to charity(Childrens Justice and Advocacy Center).

On a side note, I have just recieved the shirts for the show! Nintendoage graciously has sponsored the event this year and has covered all shirt costs. The shirts will be sold for $10 and 100 percent will be given to charity(Childrens Justice and Advocacy Center). Also pics of this years Championship Trophy have been posted! Less than a week away!

A little overdue but definitely needs to be said. Officially today, Cowlitz Gamers for kids hit its target goal...over $5000 raised for Childrens Justice and Advocacy Center. This was the work of a local community, PRGE, Cowlitz Gamers Club, Three Rivers Mall, and other close fellow gamers/clubs/businesses coming together for a great cause. There was an attendance of over 450 different people(this is not including any staff) and was a smashing success. Words cant express how grateful I am for the support from PRGE. Just wanted to say thank you, and look forward to both SRGE and PRGE in the upcoming months.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

There will be a next year

Already excited about it!
