I sold a new Turbo Express on eBay a month ago. I have provided the link below. Yesterday I get this message.

Sean,

I just picked up the Turbo Express today at the post office. I tried 3 different games on it, and for each one I get sound but no video. The brightness control doesn't do any good- still no picture.

Do you have anotherTurbo Express I could exchnage this one with?

Jim

I checked the tracking number and the post office says that this was delivered before Christmas. I emailed him back and told him that I thought he was lying as the post office said he picked it up a month ago and that I thought he broke it. Today I get this message:

Sean,

I have been out of town for nearly a month. I just picked up the unit today from the post office and it doesnt work (I used brand new batteries for it). You advertised it as new in the ad. I would like to enchange it for another unit, or a refund.

Jim

I really don't care if this jerk leaves me a negative feedback. He came back to complain a month later. I just want to make sure that he can't do a chargeback. He paid through Billpoint.

Here is the link to the auction:

Looks like the buyer has been bidding on EBAY for the last month, so that could mean he had internet access away from home or he is outright lying. He is also leaving feedback for other sellers, so if he wasn't around to get those items, why would he leave them feedback? :ponder: Dude is probably looking to get over somehow, I'd be careful.

Did you actually get to test the unit before you shipped it to know for sure?

Chargebacks are nasty things. The cardholder is pretty much always right no matter how hard you fight or how ridiculous their story is. You might just want to refund his money and take the unit back. Hopefully, he didn't break it.

At work though, we get chargebacks that are several months old..so I'd guess that he can still do a chargeback even after all this time.

Yes, the fact that he has been bidding and leaving feedback when he was supposedly "away" and also the fact that your auction clearly states "All sales are final". But, also, just because the post office said it was delivered doesn't mean he necessarily got it. Was it mailed to a PO box or a physical address? Maybe the post office considered it "delivered" by placing a card in his box. But the fact he has been leaving feedback seems to say otherwise. Also, like Mrretrogamer asked, was it tested before listing and/or mailing? If so, sounds like someone trying to pull a fast one.

I had bought the unit about 2-3 years ago new from Telegames. When I bought it I did test it for about 30 seconds just to make sure that it worked. I put it away in the closet and thought that maybe it would go up in value. Right after I bought it, new Turbo Express units started showing up left and right everywhere. I sold the system at a loss. I did not test it it right before I sent it. If there was a problem with the unit I would assume that the guy would have complained a month ago.

This sounds like the old shop-swap trick, he probably had a dead unit and just wanted to exchange it.

Which is why I ALWAYS keep track of the serial number for any hardware I sell...

An eBayer tried to give me a non-working 32x in exchange for the working one I had sent him originally...

Right after I bought it, new Turbo Express units started showing up left and right everywhere.  I sold the system at a loss.

The reason for the sudden surge of TurboDuos and TurboExpresses is that TZD was under contract to keep a minimum stock level for service and warranty work for 7 years after the lines were discontinued.. the contract expired in 2001 and the Turbos flowed once again...

If there was a problem with the unit I would assume that the guy would have complained a month ago.

As a responsible seller, if you sold an item that was to be working, it would have been a good practice to test it prior to shipment. That way you know for certain that it worked when it left your hands. There would be no doubt or any assumption that it did or did not work.

When I sell my stuff, I generally test the item prior to listing and again prior to shipping. This way, I have no doubt that it was working. I figure the one time I get lazy and not test something, that's when it will come back to haunt me. Better to be safe than sorry. But it still sounds like this guy is not on the level with you.

The guy who bought my Turbo Express informs me today that he is legally blind.  I have to wonder if the system is working and he just can't see the screen.

Hahaha. Did you include braile controllers with the unit? ;)

...

Um...

:?

...by smacking them with a cane until the goodies fall out?

BTW it says "legally blind"...which is not "blind". One of my sisters is legally blind...which is to say that without her specs, she can see light and dark (and that's about it)
