:) :) :D

Well, I said I owned it. That doesn't mean I'm any good at it. This could be me on the way out of the door.

I'll kick it off with something.

This is the best I've ever done on Xevious so I guess that means I can keep improving this week. I enjoy top-down shooters but never cared for the bomb on this game. I guess it's time to learn this one.

if using a two button 7800 controller, you can toggle the difficulty switch to have both bomb and regular shot with one button.. or if using another controller with one button functionality, it automatically defaults to this.

I use a SMS Control Stick for most 2600/7800 stuff unless it needs both buttons. I may try the 7800 stick before the week is up. Who knows, I might get around to it today. The rain here has shot my plans.

I usually use a SMS control pad for most of my 7800 play :)

my issue with using the 7800 proline in Xevious is that the shot is on the left button (bomb is set to the right button) and I'm forced to use my index finger to fire, causing discomfort :_(

there are some advantages to not continuously bombing, such as seeing hidden targets when the crosshairs turn red, I'm going to have to see how long I can endure the pain using the proline... otherwise, I'll just play for survival and hope to score decent that way...

Xevious is probably my favorite 7800 game... my sister got this game back at Christmas 1988 and we would play for hours! it's also one of the games that would set me up for my love of shooters (along with Zanac and Gradius on the NES)

getting on board with:

118,000

139,560

And I've only just started! Then again, it feels like it hasn't been that long ago since we've last played this.

And for the first time, I've (naturally?) changed the way I play 7800 Xevious. I still use the Pro Line, but now I use my left hand for movement and my right hand for the buttons, the opposite of how I hold it for other games. My hands get much less tired now.

1/2 WAY THROUGH XEVIOUS

Jifremok leads the way so far in 1st.

Sonic R a close 2nd is now enjoying the mario free world.

roadrunner is doing very consistant progress, relaxing in 3rd.

bigbee99 started up quick the last two rounds is 4th.

patbb a quick score and currently 5th.

Darrin 9999 - rough start at the moment in "last" 6th place.

Darrin9999 is currently on the bubble, though... no players without a score!,

everyone has 2 1/4 days left to play!
