davidcalgary29
What do you think about the following scenario? I won an auction for a ST computer package: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...2079896195&rd=1 Not bad for around $43 USD, right? The system was shipped in three boxes. The first two arrived, and I found that: 1. The 520ST was DOA (power supply) 2. The advertised monitor was monochrome, and not colour; but: I got two hard drives instead of the one advertised. Shipping was around $73USD to Canada. Yes, that's right! When I didn't receive the third box, I e-mailed the seller and was told that to get the third box, I'd have to pay an extra $20 USD as the box is in...Alaska (seller is in Seattle). What's your opinion on sellers who hold items "ransom" until extra shipping $$ are received from buyers? I would complain, but the Seller really sounds quite nice...notwithstanding the fact that this transaction has definitely gone sour for me... eldunko
I think you got mighty ripped off... thats like $175 Canadian + plus that extra ransom package in alaska, pushes it over $200. Although all the picutres are gone, I assume it was a big package though. The only thing i can't understand is how do you accidentally send something to alaska? Albert
Wow, I'd be pretty pissed off if I was in your shoes. First, you didn't receive what was advertised in the auction. Second, the shipping is outrageous. Third, you have to pay even *more* to get everything you won in the auction! That's ludicrous, and if the seller refuses to correct the situation (DOA power supply, monochrome vs. color monitor, getting you the third box without you paying *even more*), I'd leave negative feedback. ..Al Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/19270-extra-shipping-fees/#findComment-204673 Share on other sites
MacGurl
Sounds like whoever he shipped the package through messed up. US Customs is in Alaska, but items being shipped to Canada shouldn't go through that station. sku_u
You got ripped off. Definitely leave negative feedback. The seller shouldn't have sold it to someone out of the US if he didn't know how to ship it to you in a proper fashion. CPUWIZ
In fact, have a friend that doesn't care about eBay, open an account then let you use it to bid on a boatload of auctions from the same seller and don't pay for them. Wait for the negative feedback and return it. Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/19270-extra-shipping-fees/#findComment-204789 Share on other sites

davidcalgary29
The latest: I paid the extra $20 US to have that box shipped from Alaska (apparently, the seller's brother's residence), & the brother responded as follows: Hi David I had no Idea you would send it via PayPalUnfortunately PayPal charges a handling fee and if I take the $18.92 to the Post Office they will laugh and say not with insurance you don't. So I can refund your money and you can try again with $20.95 or I can ship without insurance (for $50 value) Your call. Please respond before shipping time in 4 more hours. The seller had advised me to send the extra money by PayPal. Do I get a prize for "worst eBay transaction...ever"? MegaManFan
The seller had advised me to send the extra money by PayPal. Do I get a prize for "worst eBay transaction...ever"? I've had a couple that are close to being in your league. *kicks a dead 7800 worth $40* But I think yours takes the cake. File a complaint with eBay, the postal service (mail fraud) and anybody else you can think of. You're getting SERIOUSLY hosed. AtariLeaf
Forward that email to ebay. Its illegal to pass paypal or any other fees onto the buyer. He could get suspended for this for sure. I think this guy needs to be bid attacked so he can get some well deserved negs so others will avoid this chucklehead. Report them to Paypal, Ebay, and the FBI. The nickel and dimeing going on on their part is absurd. If they quoted you a certain amount and say they accept Paypal, they can't go ahead and then keep tacking on BS fees after the fact. that's what handling is for. I hope he gets destroyed every time he posts an auction. Foxy Cleopatra
Starscream and I had a bad experience with a kid from Florida. He sent a check for an item that bounced. When I put the check through a second time and called the bank they said it was ok and SS shipped the item. The check bounced again and we were out over $180. So I reversed look up his phone number, called his bank the check came from and put intense pressure on him to either return the item, send the money, or we would go to Florida's attorney general for check fraud. You need to get in touch with this person IN PERSON. Let him/her know you have options and aren't afraid to persue them even for a few hundred dollars.
