Pixelboy
Out of curiosity, who is involved in this new "Games for Inty" venture? I sent an e-mail to be put on the mailing list, but strangely, I'm getting the "too-close-to-april-first-to-be-true" vibe... I don't usually keep track of the Inty homebrew scene, but doesn't such a large game require a big cart with a bankswitching scheme? Does that technology exist for the Inty? I don't really mean to cast serious doubt on the whole thing. Like I said, I just don't follow the Inty scene all that much...
catsfolly
Joe Zbiciak says his Intellivision cart can handle programs as big as 42k words (84k bytes) without bankswitching itself. With bankswitching, it can handle up to 120K words (240K bytes). By comparison, the mame arcade image for Donkey Kong 2 is 66k bytes. So bankswitching does exist for the Intellivision, and It seems like Donkey Kong 2 could fit in a cartridge.
Games For Your Intellivision
Carl Mueller wrote the game. You've seen what he can do. It isn't hard to believe that he could improve it. My name is William Moeller. You can see my name in the credits of DK Arcade. We have a fine quality cart design. The best in the world. This is not an April fools joke in any way. Our website is going up today. I guess I will put some cart information up for people who have any doubts. The Intellivision community can order in confidence. The game is finished and playtested.
GroovyBee
Sorry! I wasn't doubting the game's existence. I was just curious as to who the team is behind the release. E.g. who is doing the carts, pcb, box design, manual etc.

I bought an Intellivision with a few games a couple of years ago, mainly to study Utopia running on a real machine, and eventually do a homebrew ColecoVision version. So since I have an Inty, this seems like the perfect opportunity to get one of the finest Inty homebrews out there and give it a good play thru. As I'm not an Inty fanboy by any means, I'm sure I'll sell off my Inty after my CV version of Utopia is done, and I think I'll fetch a decent price for the whole lot with D2K included. But that's a few years away from hapenning, and I will have played with D2K a lot by then. I'm definately a DK fan, and D2K is right up my alley. Rev
But it ´s still no good marketing to call the old version obsolete. Anyway, you received my mail allready... I agree. The word obsolete has alot of negative connotation attached to it. And since Carl programmed DK Arcade, it's almost making it sound like he released an incomplete product to start with. I dont think he did. DK Arcade is awesome even with the few little minor glitches. people will still but the D2K game since it has the new levels, which is a whole new game in itself. But instead maybe emphasize the new part and advertize it as a whole new game with the bonus of DK Arcade included. People don't like to hear that they purchased an obsolete product 5 months after they forked over 50 dollars. just my 2 cents...... edit: grammer Edited January 22, 2012 by revolutionika

Games For Your Intellivision
People are putting too much into the word obsolete. The other version got put on cart before it should have been put on cart. This version includes every bit of gameplay that DK Arcade had. However, it looks better, controls better, sounds better, is bug free and includes another game. You decide which copy you want.
+evg2000
Cool, so we bought prototype/review copies that are worth millions of $$$$$. Not complaining, I'm happy with the prerelease and will by buying the super deluxe version also!
Rev
Don't worry, this game will surley be a big seller!!! I don't think the DK2 Jumpman is on a cart for any other system is it? ??maybe on some nes repro or something?? I don't know......i will check the Nes repro sites and see. Also, it is just that word 'obsolete' has alot of weight behind it. It means no longer needed to me. And i think that DK Arcade IS still needed. It is a great game and it marked a new start in Intellivision homebrews after a LONG drought. Plus, there are probably some people on limited funds who can not get this new game. The last thing they want to hear is that their game is obsolete. Anyway, i think we all are looking forward to this new game. Keep up the awesome work guys, and we look forward to many more games! Games For Your Intellivision
Ok, no more talk about 'obsolete'. This game is the one to have in my opinion. I hope you agree.

Games For Your Intellivision
I thought you were from Georgia not Quebec or Louisiana! I took seven years of French in school, but I wouldn't want to translate a manual! If anyone wants to help make a French Canadian version, I would be pleased to print it for my fellow Canadians. PS, I saw 'box' after I posted.....no, we won't be doing a bi-lingual box Edited January 22, 2012 by Games For Your Intellivision

Carl Mueller Jr
I think "obsolete" is going a bit too far. It does, however, contain the original game with smoother graphics, better control, and more accurate enemy AI. So if you're going to choose one over the other, this release is definitely the better deal (don't forget the four extra screens!). The original release is still a fun game, but I definitely prefer the enhancements made to this edition.
Carl Mueller Jr
By the way, D2K is only 28K and does not use bank switching or extra RAM. It could've been released in the 80s, albeit with a higher price tag (most games were not much bigger than 16K, although I think a few made it up to 24K). Also to clarify: this game is not a direct port of D2K: Jumpman Returns. It does contain three of its five screens (with permission from the author), and also an Intellivision exclusive screen. Expect a great game, but one unique to the Intellivision.

Yep, and I have a big pile of them in my living room waiting to go into Intellivisions. :-) Once you've ordered D2K, start saving up for Christmas Carol. It should be ready soon. BTW, for folks in Canada: Willy and I are looking at what it'll take to make Games for Your Intellivision my official Left Turn Only distributor for Canada. If the numbers work, GFYI will distribute games for me in Canada, hopefully simplifying the customs situation and cutting the total shipping cost. It cost me about $16 USD per cartridge to ship to Canada when I did Space Patrol. I imagine it's worse now. It'll be easier just to send one big package to Canada than many small ones, so less paperwork for everybody, hopefully.
