Aydan
@Bataais - Thank you so much for these full screen 60hz versions so far! Are the colours not fully converted as of yet? I'm just wondering is all
bataais
Our PAL Atari 2600 have only 104 colors instead of 128 of the NTSC machines. I tried my best to get the closest colors, when I changed an NTSC rom to PAL60. And if I changed a PAL rom to PAL60, then most of the time I didn't change any colors, because the programmers already did (not at all times to the best). For more information about the palettes, look here: http://www.randomterrain.com/atari-2600-memories-tia-color-charts.html http://atariage.com/forums/topic/165424-modify-colour-palette/
Aydan
Oh awesome! Thank you very much! Hopefully the others won't be so difficult for you With all these PAL60 conversions it means we can play the games as close as intended (minus some changes in colour) the way they were meant to be played! Gurner
Again, 2 more. Nobody seems to care. Should I go on converting & posting? There are some of us in PAL-land that really, really appreciate this!
davyK
Wow - things have been busy here!!! Great to see. I accidentally overwrote my homepage there a while back so I'll make sure my homepage has the links to the PAL60 ROMS I created.... Am thinking of tackling Breakout and Super Breakout but I've kind of run out of steam with this - I'm teaching myself to write iPhone apps at the minute (well - following some online tutorials if truth be known) - just too many cool sthings to get into nowadays!!! Once you are on a roll it is easier converting these ROMs though...... Re colour conversions - I have been overwriting the NTSC colour values with PAL equivalent values using randomterrain's website which has a conversion tool. Have had to use a bit of artistic licence with some of mine - just have people have said here there are no extact translation for ll of the colours. I'm happy to host more ROMS is the need arises. Omegamatrix
I'm close to a release of Tomarc the Barbarian. Just fixing the erratic scanline count... I'm a bit busy at the moment with moving so probably in a few days.
PFL
Well, since maiki has created a list I may as well join in! Would anyone be willing to convert KevinMos3's hacks to PAL60? If so, I'd be happy to find the thread. It's little difficult for me to search just now (work machine). They're lovely hacks though... Omegamatrix
Bataais, there is fixed rom I made for Jungle Hunt long ago. You might want to use it for your PAL60 conversion as not having the players color bleed onto the vine is nice.

Gurner
Kangaroo is another classic that was never made as PAL 60. Some decent difficult gameplay and three screens to play through – bet it's even harder at the correct speed.
maiki
Well I think I will just stay with 50 Hz on Kangaroo. Not sure if I ever made it through the first level even with that speed.

PFL
Just in case you're interested in taking a look at any of these: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/154984-hack-project-thread-galaxian-arcade-double-dragon-xenophobe-etc/ Some of the new sprite work and recolouring is fantastic. It's just a shame that the colours don't work in PAL. Commando, Double Dragon and Galaxian look particularly cool in NTSC emulation.
maiki
OK. I started replacing colors in Jetman 1k. Simply I thought it would be the easier one.. but it isn't. I managed to replace RED colors for PLAYER 1 and GREEN for BACKGROUND (bottom part of the screen). A9 42 85 07 ' 42 replaced with 62 A9 C6 85 09 ' C6 replaced with 56 Then there is the PLAYFIELD - basically the spacecraft - and I am running into troubles here: it should be BLUE and I have replaced A9 50 85 08 ' 50 replaced with 80 But I get a PINK spacecraft right from the boot up. So I missed the point where it is set to be BLUE. The spacecraft should be filled with PINK but I have not addressed that in the hack. Do not know where. So it is still filled with GREEN. - wrong The top of the screen, the most tricky part (perhaps). 8 (?) BACKGROUND shades that get darker as you lose energy. The only thing I am able to read from Stella is that they should be stored between ram_86 to ram_8D (?). There is a "pointer" (?) byte at ram_84 (?). some piece of code that seems suspicious to me: LDX ram_84 LDA ram_85,X STA COLUBK another part of the code: BIT ram_86|$800 LDA ram_84 ???? I did replace another value in the code but it affected the display itself, so I took it back: LDY #$11 '11 replaced with 21 - wrong, don't change that STA WSYNC STA HMOVE DEY BNE LFACA STY COLUBK Please, help! bataais
maiki, The background shading start color gets read from the table at adress ADF, for yellow, 1F is read in and placed in ram_8D, then -2, into ram_8C, and so on. I suspect more colors to be coded in ADF-B0E. Hope that helps a little
