BACKGROUND: Terrorist factions of the Bungeling Empire armed forces have kidnapped 64 delegates to a U.N. peace conference. These delegates are being held in crude barracks. The terroristes have now threatened to execute their hostages one by one within hours. MILITARY OPTIONS: The delegates are being held in heavily fortified, landlocked barracks. Ground or naval assault is out of the question. Jet or missile attacks would kill the hostages. The only viable rescue method is a helicopter airlift. TACTICAL MISSION: You have been chosen to pilot the only chopper that can reach the area in time. It's maneuverable and well armed, but outnumbered. Tanks attack and jets puruse; drop down to bomb the barracks and land to pick up fleeing hostages. It will take several runs to save all of the prisoners. Good luck . . . the world is watching you! I am a little embarrassed to say that I didn't know you could destroy the hostage buildings yourself, I always lured the tanks to them and waited for them to destroy the buildings. The jet make is appearance right after. So it makes it a lot harder to get the second house. Not only you have the Jet but the tanks have time to get there. So I tried to go to the 3rd and 4th house instead. It worked only to find out that the tank destroyed the 2nd house and were shooting at the ostages! But it's possible. The way you played was basically the way I did to get 59 with the exception being after picking up the first group of 16 I flew all the way to the 4th house. I've found that if many times you can get to 32 saved before you even encounter a single jet. Also I do this so the flight back and forth for the remaining house is the shortest distance possible. I also tend to stay in the middle helicopter position for the most part but other than that the runs are similar. I think 64 is possible with a good amount of luck since the tanks will usually kill a few guys. To many times a guy or two are killed at the first house even if you are trying to eliminate the tanks. There is a certain aspect of luck involved but mostly its just avoiding the jet as he sweeps across the screen. Landing extremely close the the houses is very important, this can cut down pickup time to only a few seconds. I'd say I played about 60 games over the course of 2 days to get this although I did purposely crash many times if a hostage died, to restart faster. I even managed to capture a video on the bluemsx emulator, although I can't figure out how to post it here. If anyone has suggestions I'd like to hear em. I need a program to view it I guess. Now to go back and improve upon my original score as I was hoping that 59 would hold up a bit better. I played the original version on the Apple 2 and recall this as one the first games I completed.
