RickR
Hello: I just got an Atari 410 tape drive that does not seem to work. It will not play or record. I know it must be connected to a computer to play, so I've attached it to an 800, hold down "Start" while turning it on, I get a beep, yet play does nothing. FF and REW work fine. I've taken the back cover off to see if the motor spins when play is pressed, but it does not (even with the drive belt removed). When I did take the cover off, an earring (?!!??!) fell out, so it is possible something is broken. The question is, what can I check or fix to get play/record working again? Thanks, Rick
Rybags
You have to press a key after the hold Start procedure.
RickR
Well duh. Pressed the space bar, and the motor whirred to life. Feel stupid, but glad I asked. Thanks! Now the belt is very slippy. I'll work on that next. Thanks again.
