KevinMos3
I intended to post about this a long time ago, but never got around to it. Since the Harmony Cart sorts files/directories according to when they were created on the SD card, you can do some interesting sorts. To make the menu more attractive for my tastes, I created blank text documents and named them with all hyphens to separate certain groups of folders. I'm sure most ppl will not care for my folder choices, but some may like the idea of using blank files to decorate the menu. Here's what my menu looks like: [Commercial] [Cassettes] ------------------------ [Homebrew] [Hacks] [Prototypes] [NTSC Conversions] [Flashback 2] ------------------------ [Paddles] [Driving Controller] [Light Gun] [2-Button Hacks] ------------------------ [special Releases] [Trainers] [Demos] [brazilian] [supercharger Compatib..] xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [[[ Harmony Software ]]] xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx So the lines of hyphens and "x"s are the 0-byte files. You could also add them to your ROM folders so that you have separations between letter groups like this: 0 ]--------------------- 3-D Tic-Tac-Toe.bin A ]--------------------- Acid Drop.bin Adventure.bin Adventures of Tron.bin Air Raid.bin B ]--------------------- Bank Heist.bin Barnstorming.bin Basic Math.bin BASIC Programming.bin Basketball.bin Battlezone.bin C ]--------------------- Cakewalk.bin California Games.bin Carnival.bin Centipede.bin Challenge of Nexar.bin ...and so on What ideas have others had for sorting their directories/files and decorating their menu? snstay
Hey, I think your idea is awesome. I have my set organized by hardware. check it out let me know what you think. (Good to see more rom organization posts here) Thanks Scott http://dl.dropbox.com/u/59161327/Scotts%20Harmony%20Cart.zip
Deteacher
I downloaded a set that was organized by company (Atari, Activision, Imagic, etc...) I like that setup, but an alphabetical list by title would be cool too!
snstay
There is probably enough room on a 2gb card to have them organized in every diffrent way! We should pool everyones set and see what we can come up with huh. Scott
KevinMos3
My collection is pretty clean (with all the variants taken out), and has lots of hacks and homebrews, yet still only takes up just over 8MB. I use an old 512MB SD card, so I could have about every sorting method we could think of and still have lots of space left over.

KevinMos3
I wouldn't mind sharing. I'll have to make a few tweaks to it first though.
Pioneer4x4
Excellent idea! Are there multiple files named the same? (12 hyphens, or Xs...)

KevinMos3
Excellent idea! Are there multiple files named the same? (12 hyphens, or Xs...) No, each successive one has one more character than the last or else there would be a naming conflict. I trimmed off the extra characters to represent what the menu actually looks like on a TV. I coulda taken a pic, but uploading it on dialup would have been a pain.
