I did just manage to crack 20K using emulation and a mouse, though. That's a personal best for me playing that way. Hopefully a few games on the real hardware and paddles will push me further into the safe zone this week. In this gameplay, I DIDN'T use Gorfy's technique, i.e., once I reached 100K range, I let the score rises to 101K, 102K etc. without letting the spinners land, or colliding with Rockets and Pulsar. So, I played honestly. The unique special feature which I used during this gameplay is "Snapshot Saved" (F12 with my Stella 3.6 Emulator). Since my goal is to reach the 100K-POINT range, here is my FINAL ATTEMPT!! I used mouse as a Paddle. Sunday is going to be the only real time I can get to play now...and with Laser Gates coming up, I really want to be playing next week. Besides the high score, I don't feel I could rollout the game right now, even lowering score at each 100k... Simple not sure I could make it up to 200k. Generally we work on the honor system, so we'll just have to pledge not to use this trick. I believe there is something in the general HSC rules about these situations, but it boils down to just trusting the players not to exploit any bugs in the program... it's not like there's any prize on the line worth cheating for. I PM'd Jacob about this, so hopefully he'll give a ruling so that we can all be on the same page. Part of the problem, though, is that this sudden jacking up in additional lives can happen quite unintentionally if the player happens to reach 100k and then dips below it by unintentionally losing a life or two. Should the player then disontinue the game so as not to exploit the glitch even though it was unintended? In a longer game, in which a player scores several hundred thousand, it seems pretty likely that this would happen unintentionally at least once. :? I'm currently taking a break from a game in progress to write about this. I was aware of this issue so when I was approaching 100k I was only focusing on keeping it above 100k. I failed miserably and failed even to properly recall how many lives I had. I know I hadn't gone below 5 lives, not sure if I stayed above 10 lives, but I remember that after securing my place above 100k I had 17 lives. Because I wasn't sure about my life count I planned on stopping play when reaching 10 lives. On the approach to 200k I was peaked at 199k and had 29 lives, then I had life #30 upon breaching 200k, died (I suck), score dropped below 200k, then I rose above 200k again and didn't gain any extra lives. That's reassuring since I KNOW I didn't get any jacked up lives that time. I'm still gonna stop at 10 lives though, unless my patience dies first and I just quit altogether. Currently at 205k, with 29 lives. Currently at 302k, with 22 lives. 403k with 34 lives. Found myself running out of juice and nearly being reduced to 10 lives several times, but then went long times without dying. Is this what undeath is like? 501k with 43 lives. It's kinds like I just "rolled" Rampage. Except it isn't over yet. I'm hungry and this game taunts me with pebbles and marshmallows. No bowl or milk. 600k with 53 lives. I envy the ones sitting below 100k. They can start again and die and start again and die and enjoy getting their games ended. 700k with 76 lives. I'm pretty sure I hadn't exceeded 70 lives, yet when I died at 700k score, died, then rose back above 700k, I wound up with way more lives than I recall. Now I must assume myself to be out of lives if I'm reduced to 20. Not that that's gonna happen. I justr fell below 700k again and rose back above it, ansd gained no extra lives (currently at 73). I'm still struggling around the 700k mark and noticed myself gain two more lives. 699k and at 73 lives. I'm not sure how many extra lives now, thanks to those stupid single/double gains. Still, sometimes I didn't get lives at all. Is this a randomly-occurring glitch? 698k and at 77 lives. My score had not re-exceeded 700k at all between that last update and this one, yet my lives increased like crazy. Two deaths later and now I'm at 699k with 98 lives. Lives maxed out at 99. Nearly everything I shot made my lives go up. A few more deaths. 704k and 97 lives. My score has become able to stay over 700k and my lives seemed to normalize at 98. 710k and 87 lives. Dying a lot more than usual, but it's good to see the lives counter not doing THAT now. I suggest that 200k be the max score. It took till 700k for my lives to get severely messed up, but someone else might get that a lot sooner. 710k and 85 lives. My skill is deeriorating, perhaps. It's for the better. But I'm still gonna continue till I roll it. No sense abandoning the game when I'm so close, just because some glitch destroyed a good honest run. 799k with 88 lives. Paid some attention and noticed my lives increasing even when my score stayed within a 1000-point range! (That is, staying between 798000 and 799000) And this hadn't happened until after I breached 800k and of course too much crap fell to the floor for me to keep it up. After managing to stay over 800k the glitch stopped going. 900k and 88 lives. So many star bits falling. Why am I shooting and destroying these when there are more than enough to feed thousands of hungry Lumas? Unless...these are Luma droppings and I'm working waste disposal at Rosalina's observatory? By the way, that damn glitch happened again. I've probably lost more lives than I had legitimately but I have no way of telling. I'll bet a few lives snuck by even before reaching 500k. Just one more milestone and it'll be over. 180 points and 97 lives. Yeah, I finally rolled it. And if the score drops below 0 after rolling it, it rolls back to 999k and can keep going downward!
