Setup question - C64 or C128, 1541 or 1571

(And the 1541-ultimate-ii doesn't have that limitation that a uIEC does, as an aside).

Not worth the cost of a 1541-U, IMHO, but I do know someone that has one and I've played around with it...it's a nice piece of kit.

I'm going to set up my C64 tomorrow with the fastload cart and my 1571's and see how things work. I will look into the jiffydos option - that intrigues me. Thanks for the info on that.

Good choice jtoubeaux, your C64 probably has a better sounding SID chip (6581) than the 128!

You might want to add the uIEC flashcart drive to your setup, it connects through the drive cable or daisy chains to the 1541/1571 and can mount D64 disk images from the flash.

How do I acquire the flashcart?

Yeah, not just for that. The Ultimate is the, well, ultimate in features, but only for the really serious... most I think wouldn't use most of them. I love mine though, made my 64 so much better & easier to use.
