RedRaider's Vectrex pr0n

RedRaider

Recommended Posts

Well I will use this thread to post up pics of my Vectrex units / accessories / games.

Took some quick pics of Vectrex Unit #1. I bought this unit off eBay a couple of weeks ago. It's purpose in life will be the daily gaming unit. Screen displays a excellent picture, nice sharp vectors. It was bought bare, without a joystick, but I got that covered already as you will see.

I gave this unit a proper through detailing job, boy was it dirty.

I will be retaking these pictures once it is dark, the ambient light in the room is affecting these pics in a way I do not care for.

I love Brab's custom dust covers, I have them for my Intellivision, ColecoVision, ColecoVision Roller Controller, ColecoVision Expansion Module #1, and NES. Buying some for my Sega Saturn and Sega Dreamcast.

Vectrex #2

This is how you properly package and ship a Vectrex

Many thanks to the awesome deal on Vectrex #2 from fellow AtariAge member: keilbaca

Of the two units in my possession so far, this unit is definitely the less aesthetic of the two. There were some white markings on the shell, that are just not able to be removed. This unit received RedRaider's complete detail job (which it needed in a bad way) and despite the looks is clean as a button.

Unfortunately, as with most all Taiwan manufactured models, this Vectrex suffers the dreaded image shift, which is down and to the left. I plan on re-centering the image when I have this unit opened up to be re-capped and have the hum-removal mod performed.

Enjoy...

Vectrex #3 (NISB-NOS)

Here is my precious. Have not decided if I am going to open this unit up or not. But I have definitely decided to buy one more sealed unit, that's for sure. The box is actually in damn good shape, considering it is 28-29 years old. Based upon the SN on the box, this is a Made in Taiwan unit, which means it was made close to the end of the Vectrex's production life.

Enjoy...

I'm embarrassed to even post these pics taken with my iPhone 4S, phone cameras are garbage. As I do not own a P&S, it's all I have to use.

The D90 was the first DSLR to record HD video. I got mine back in early 2009, I have loved this DSLR.

Hopefully by the end of the year I will relegate my baby to my girlfriend for use in her photography and get myself the Full-Frame D800. :)

Now you guys are starting to see why my classic gaming collection is so humble compared to y'alls. I have too many hobbies to feed. I'll start another thread to show y'all my ERBE and MERV.

more pr0n please im not done fapping

In all seriousness: great stuff RedRaider, welcome to the wonderful world of Vectrex! Mayhem is putting together a Vectrex collector's guide for an upcoming issue of Retro Gamer magazine - check that out for a nice, comprehensive list of all the goodies that will tug at the heartstrings of your wallet.

Also, join us at: http://vectorgaming.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=vectrex for great Vectrex discussion!

Lastly - the last boxed Bandai Kousokusen sold on eBay for a touch over $1k earlier this year. A very digestable price, had I been able to get the funds together...

Thanks for the compliment and info.

I am already a member of Vector Gaming Forum, I just haven't posted there yet. Of course, my user name there is: RedRaider

$1K, damn, that's a bit steep for me. $600 I could rationalize, but not $1K. I say that now, but let's see if I say that next time one pops up. Bwaaahahahaha

If you want to go all OCD, there were U.S. Vectrex made in Hong Kong AND Taiwan with 1982, controllers too. Oh, and Canadian ones made in 1983!

(Last time I saw Japanese Vectrex on eBay, it went for a small fortune!)

Personal preference, but I believe the Hong Kong ones hold up better. I've seen many Taiwan ones with off-center screens.

I just received Vectrex #2 in the mail yesterday, 1982 Made in Taiwan model. Screen image is off-center, to the left and down.

I found a article online that details how to take the clothes off your Vectrex and adjust the pots to re-center the image. Going to give that a whirl this weekend. This unit will be the first to get re-capped as well.
