BillyHW
The speed-up always 264,885 Obviously there is a lot of secrets I've not found that everyone else has This is where my inspiration comes from... http://www.cheatchan...wfiles/klax.htm The speed-up always *felt* to me like it was based on the number of tiles, and not the time. So that pushing down on the joystick to speed up the conveyer didn't really give you an advantage. This site says it's time-based. Can anyone confirm either way? Is there anyone capable of looking at the code itself to find out precisely? Apparently some of the home versions either don't speed-up, or have a non-speed-up optional mode. (Not the Lynx version.) The speed-up is the entire challenge, frankly, and it's what makes Klax so hard. I just wish it didn't speed-up quite so much, so that the game was a tad easier. I'm not sure if it's time or titles but if you tap the button when the points are "counting" you will get more points. For example, if you do a tagen stax on the first level, you will get about 260K but if you press the button the points will go over 300K I have look at my INP for an example. (this is not from my 900k game but a good one ... for me ... 873K ) I still cannot finish the 40 titles level but I manage to get over 900K. The 10K points level is where you can get the most points. Everything abouve 10K points counts double! Klax: 964,933 klax873.zip
BillyHW
That website also seems to imply that the speed-up timer does not reset with each level. Lame. Not sure why they made it so difficult. I don't know if you noticed, but a second player can join in at any time and play side by side. So there's no compelling reason to kick anybody off before their time. Having a better crowd around the cabinet would have attracted more gamers to it as well. BTW, your zip file opens up into a .inp file and .wlf file...what am I supposed to do with these? M.A.M.E Offender
Man, I wish I had more time for this one!! What a cool game. I'm treating this week as a writeoff. The B could really jump on this opportunity to skate past me here. Hopefully he doesn't have any last minute heroics!! Here is my paltry score on KLAX: 112,

BillyHW
If anyone cares what I did for the high score, I started on level 11, made a 7-pointed asterisk...and then did it again on level 56. Came within 1 klax of finishing the level too. Edited May 13, 2012 by BillyHW

kane
Does anyone have a cartridge of atari 2600 klax, that plays on USa models? Martin Pardys Not even close to the right section, but anyway -> ]KLAX was only released in PAL format. Only 10 NTSC prototypes are known to exist.[/b] That being said a, PAL cart will work in your NTSC console, but will play slightly slower and have some colour differences.
